A message from our Board of Directors...

Spring is an especially happy time for the SCBA because it's the season for scholarships! The SCBA was proud to award five (5) scholarships to local high school students in May. Each student received $1,000 toward his/her college pursuits. The well-deserving students were from the following local high schools:
  • One from Francis Scott Key High School
  • Two from Liberty High School
  • Two from Manchester Valley High School
These students met all of the criteria required for the SCBA scholarship, such as a good GPA, an interest in pursuing a career in the field of business, among others. Perhaps of more importance was how the students demonstrated humanitarian qualities in school and in their community. Well done!

The SCBA's mission is to create business opportunities, referrals, and partnerships for its members, but also to support community outreach activities through education and involvement - that's what the SCBA Scholarship Fund is all about. And it wouldn't be possible without the focused and tireless efforts of SCBA members, Board and Committee members, Event Chairs and volunteers, and many more. Thank you for all of the effort and goodwill. Hopefully our scholarship recipients will one day be able to pay it forward.

Please be sure to come to the June and July lunches to meet a few of our scholarship recipients.

Sincerely,
The SCBA Board of Directors

Power Networking Breakfast
Steve Wantz and Katy Giebenhain of Carroll Community College.
We had a great turnout for May's Power Networking Breakfast at Carroll Community College. Thank you to Steve Wantz and team for hosting. We were shown an informative and inspiring video about the school, its students, staff, curriculum, and capabilities. This school is a true gem and it's right in our backyard! Quite a few of our guests either attended Carroll or have family and friends who have. Stop by the campus for a visit - it's worth the trip. Or get on their mailing list to receive information and brochures of upcoming classes for students of any age. Click on logo for more information. Carroll is also excited to promote their new athletics department - Women’s and Men’s Cross Country and Soccer will be starting in the Fall of 2019. Go Lynx!!
