SCAA Announces New Safety Chair, Douglas Townsend with SET Environmental, Inc.

SCAA is excited to announce its newly elected Safety Committee Chair, Douglas Townsend! Douglas will be stepping in to fulfill these duties for Leanne Stegman. He has a degree in Environmental Science from the Ohio State University and over 25 years of industry experience and currently serves as the Corporate Compliance and Training Manager for SET Environmental, Inc.

U.S. Department of Transportation Rules to Include Oral Fluid Testing in Regulated Industry Drug Testing Program

As of May 2, 2023, the U.S. Department of Transportation amended the regulated industry drug testing programing by passing its final ruling and including oral fluid testing as a method for employers. This additional methodology gives employers a choice of testing to combat cheating on urine tests and provide less-intrusive means of achieving safety goals.

Northeast FEL & Regional Meeting Announcement

SCAA is inviting Future Environmental Leaders (FEL) to the Northeast Regional FEL event at NOAA’s Stellwagen Bank Marine Sanctuary in Scituate, Massachusetts on June 13th. Following the FEL event, SCAA will be hosting a Northeast Regional Business Meeting and Engagement Mixer at the Scituate Maritime Center.

Updated Maine and New Hampshire Area Contingency Plan and Upcoming Committee Meeting

The Maine and New Hampshire Area Committee has announced the updated area contingency plan (ME/NH ACP) as well as the date for their next committee meeting. This meeting will be held at the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services in Portsmouth, NH from 0900-1130 on October 10, 2023.
