Public Invited to Provide Input on Court Hearing Master Position Finalists

The public is invited to provide comments regarding finalists for the juvenile delinquency hearing master position with the Eighth Judicial District Court. Public input is part of a three-tiered recruitment process established in an administrative directive for selecting district court hearing masters and commissioners.


The candidates listed below are finalists who have already been through an application review committee and an oral panel interview. The public input on these candidates will go to a selection panel for the third and final tier of the hiring process.


Juvenile Delinquency Hearing Master finalist candidates are:


  • Donisha Campbell;
  • J.D. Evans;
  • Carol Griffin; and
  • Mandy McKellar.

 

Input on the candidates can be e-mailed to the Eighth Judicial District Human Resources manager’s office at EJDCRecruitment@clarkcountycourts.us, mailed to 200 Lewis Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89155, or faxed to 702-671-4560. The public comment period will be open until 5 p.m. Friday, August 30.


Each candidate is an attorney who is a member of the State Bar of Nevada in good standing.

Comment Period Open for Upcoming Board of Governors Meeting

The Board of Governors of the State Bar of Nevada has set a time for a public comment period on the agenda for its upcoming meeting at 4:05 p.m. on Thursday, August 29.

Family Law Attorneys Can Earn CLE Credit by Volunteering

The Washoe County Law Library’s “Lawyer in the Library” program needs more family law volunteers to answer questions for pro se litigants. The program is held via Zoom so attorneys can volunteer from their home or office. 

 

The sessions are from 5-7 p.m. every Tuesday. Attorneys can volunteer as frequently as they would like. No commitment.

Applications Available for Vacancy in First Judicial District

Governor Joe Lombardo announced the retirement of the Honorable James T. Russell from the First Judicial District Court of Nevada, Department 1. Russell will retire at the end of October 2024.


The Commission on Judicial Selection will convene to fill the forthcoming vacancy left by Russell’s retirement. Applications are due by noon on Thursday, September 19.

SNAWA Hosting Annual Miriam Shearing Gala on September 4

The Southern Nevada Association of Women Attorneys (SNAWA) is hosting the 12th annual Miriam Shearing Gala beginning at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4, at the Regional Justice Center in Las Vegas.

 

This year’s event will honor Nevada Supreme Court Justice Patricia Lee. The evening will include a silent auction, short presentations, and networking. All proceeds go directly to SNAWA’s foundation scholarship fund, which provides scholarships for female law students at the William S. Boyd School of Law at UNLV.
