2017 saw many natural disasters impact communities throughout the United States. The satellite industry played a significant role in helping communities recover from these disasters.
Our partners at ITDRC installed over 70 satellite internet terminals at locations throughout the country to help local communities establish critical communications services.
The industry provided equipment and service support to floods in West Virginia and Texas, tornadoes in Illinois, fires in California and hurricanes in florida and Puerto Rico. The ability of satellite to deliver essential communications to hard hit communities shows the benefits of our technology and how it can provide essential service throughout the country.
In addition the SBCA Foundation through its Satellite CARES program donated $20,000 to local communities who had been impacted by these disasters. These include purchasing a early warning siren to a small Illinois community which was impacted by a tornado. Helping a volunteer fire departments replace communications equipment damaged in floods and wildfires. The SBCA would like to thank all of those companies and individuals who supported these efforts.
