Career Coach Connect Meeting

During this interactive workshop and meeting on May 17th, Career Coaches from Region 7 explored the Dale Carnegie topic of Interpersonal Competence. Participants learned best practices and strategies for effectively connecting with others, gaining practical insights applicable to various professional settings. The workshop was led by Ian Mohorn with Dale Carnegie Training of the Emerald Coast.

& Reentry into the Workforce"

SAWDC partners gathered for the Partners in Workforce meeting on May 21 in Monroeville, Alabama. Beth Hanks from the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services (ADRS), Brendlyn Newman from the Alabama Department of Labor, and Dr. William "Butch" Young from J.F. Ingram State Technical College presented resources for businesses related to rehabilitation, veteran support, and second chance employment.

Baldwin County Summer Intern Signing Day

SAWDC participated in the Baldwin County Summer Intern Signing Day on May 20th. Forty rising Baldwin County high school seniors will join Daphne Utilities, Gulf Shores Utilities, North Baldwin Utilities, Belforest Water System, Riviera Utilities, and Fairhope Utilities, this summer as a part of the Baldwin County Utilities Internship beginning on June 3, 2024. This is the program’s fourth year, and the growth has astonished all participating utilities. Several participating utilities have hired former interns after graduation or allowed them to continue work during their senior year through the Alabama State Department’s Work-Based Learning Program.
