Thomasville Hiring Event

On Tuesday, April 16, 2024, SAWDC AlabamaWorks partnered with West AlabamaWorks to host a hiring and outreach event in Clarke County.


This event provided an opportunity for the 273 candidates that attended to find a good fit for their skills and gave businesses a chance to recruit for a wide variety of jobs that included full and part-time positions.

55th Annual Alabama SkillsUSA State Leadership Conference & SkillsUSA Championships

Participating in the Alabama SkillsUSA’s Competitive Events programs provided members with the chance to enhance their leadership capabilities and acquire life skills essential for families, communities, and careers from April 22nd through April 24th at the Mobile Convention Center.


Members had the opportunity to showcase workforce skills, career skills, and interpersonal skills through a variety of competitive events.


Students first compete at the district level and advance to the state level for the Alabama SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference.

Incoming Baldwin County seniors interview for paid summer utility internships

More than 80 Baldwin County 11th-graders put their best foot forward Friday, April 19, 2024, as they interviewed with utility companies for summer internships. The program has grown tremendously in popularity since Riviera Utilities started it in 2021. There are currently six Baldwin County utility companies that sponsor students each summer.


Fourteen schools participated and the students’ interests varied greatly. Last year, 29 juniors were awarded summer internships in fields ranging from electrical and equipment maintenance to water and wastewater engineering. This year 42 positions are up for grabs.


Signing day is set for Monday, May 20, 2024, and students will begin working on June 3, 2024.

Empowering Futures: All Abilities Job Fair Transforms Career Horizons for Baldwin County Public Schools Students

On April 25, the Baldwin County Public Schools hosted its second annual All Abilities Job Fair, an event designed to provide intentional opportunities for 10th, 11th, and 12th graders to explore diverse career paths. With 17 partners in attendance, including local businesses and organizations, students from seven schools gathered to participate in mock interviews, forge meaningful connections, and even apply for jobs on the spot.



The event saw an impressive turnout, with over 75 students seizing the chance to engage with potential employers and gain invaluable insights into the world of work. Beyond merely offering job opportunities, the fair served as a platform for students of all abilities to showcase their talents and skills, fostering an inclusive environment where every individual is empowered to pursue their aspirations.
