SAORI Arts NYC is now Intertwine Arts

Introducing … Intertwine Arts!

We founded SAORI Arts NYC in 2015 to bring the unique philosophy of SAORI weaving to people of all ages with developmental, physical, or mental disabilities or chronic illness, as well as to their families. The philosophy is grounded in the belief that everyone can enjoy self-discovery and individual creativity when there are no predetermined expectations and no so-called mistakes. At the time, it made sense to have SAORI in our name.

Why the change? For three of our eight years, we’ve faced the impact of a global pandemic. In true silver lining fashion, evolving our model to serve program participants in myriad locations opened exciting new opportunities for us. Our new name, fresh and modern logo, color palette, and tagline, “Weaving for Everyone,” better reflect the dynamic organization we’ve become and our outlook for the future – a commitment to reach even more people of every background and ability whose lives can be transformed by the sense of pleasure and fulfillment that come from making art.

What’s not changing: Our work is still inspired by SAORI principles and our mission remains the same: to inspire creativity, joy, and self-confidence through free-style weaving. We will continue to create opportunities for disabled and chronically ill communities to foster creativity and develop artistic independence. Intertwine Arts will also continue to partner with organizations that are enthusiastic about offering our innovative hybrid workshops, both in-person and virtually, to their program participants.

In addition to a new look and feel that reflects our updated brand, you will see our website URL (and email addresses) now reflect the new name. We will continue the brand migration in the coming weeks, so stay tuned. Read more about the name change in our press release.

Thank you for your support of our organization and for being an integral part of our community. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me via 917-821-8476 or ria@intertwinearts.org.

Ever onward,
