Govardhana Puja and Annakuta Festival

Hare Krishna Temple in Pacific Beach
Govardhan Puja, or Annakuta, is a festival celebrating the pastime of Lord Krishna lifting Govardhan hill on His little finger for seven days to protect the residents of Vrindavan from torrential rains sent by Indra. To celebrate this festival where we worship Lord Krishna as the lifter of Govardhana Hill, a small replica of the Hill will be made from sweets and various other edibles, which is then offered to the Lord and subsequently distributed to everyone.
If you have time, please bring preparations to offer for the Annakuta Festival!

Mahalaya Amavasya Ceremony
Make An Especially Sacred Offering To Your Departed Ancestors

At the San Diego Hare Krishna Temple
Mahalaya Paksha or the fortnight especially sacred for offering respects and oblations to the departed ancestors falls in two weeks of September this year. The last day of this period, the new moon day, amavasya, is considered as the most important day in the year for performing the sraddha ceremony, offering tarpana and pinda maha-prasadam. This will be Tuesday, September 19, 2017.
T
he great merit you receive by performing the ceremony is also gloried in the scriptures.
 At the temple on September 19th, from early morning (7:30 AM) until evening (7:00 PM), Dharmasetu das will be available to help you perform this most auspicious sraddha for your family members who have passed on.

Dharmasetu das performs one ceremony during the day for those who are not able to attend but would like to have the ceremony performed for departed family members. He has been doing this for years for families as far away as Delaware and Thailand.
If you are not able to attend and would like him to perform the ceremony in your absence, please send your name, gotra, the list of family members (their gotras if different) and their relationships to you along with a donation (a check made out to Dharmasetu). New Govardhana Krishna Kids
Children Learn Verses, Act In Plays, Have Fun
When: Sunday 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM during lecture

Every Sunday evening, during the Krishna-fest, the New Govardhana Krishna Kids classes take place in the classroom next to the temple. Please enroll your children in a program where natural love for Krishna will be nurtured. Kids will be taught some key verses and will have the opportunity to act out plays for the enjoyment of Sri Sri Radha-Giridhari and Srila Prabhupada.

October Ekadasi Schedule
Ekadasi has been set aside for us to observe a fast to please Krishna and is a special day for devotees. Srila Prabhupada asked us to fast on Ekadasi by avoiding eating grains and beans, anything made from them or anything that has them in it. This means avoiding bread, pasta, lentils, rice, as well as beans and preparations made from bean flour.
