Character Education Month Kicks Off in Roxbury
Roxbury Township Public Schools officially kicked off Red Ribbon Week and its Character Education Month on Tuesday. Not all the football-related action will be on the Succasunna gridiron Friday night when Roxbury takes on Morris Knolls. A raffle to benefit the Roxbury High School Competition Cheerleading Team will take place and it will interest fans of the New York Giants or the New York Jets.
"The cheerleaders will be raffling off two amazing items," said Jennifer Rousseau, a member of the Roxbury High School Cheer Parents. "Giants fan? Jets fan? We've got you both covered."
Tickets will be $3 each or three for $5, said Rousseau. "Either of these would make a fantastic holiday gift if you are lucky enough to win," she said. "Don't miss out on your chance."
For those who can't make the game but still want to show love for the cheerleaders, raffle tickets can be attained by asking any Roxbury cheerleader or cheer parent or by writing to
rhscheerparents@gmail.com.
Football Game Preview: Roxbury vs. Morris Knolls
Morris Knolls
(2-2) and
Roxbury
(2-2) go head to head this Friday at 7:00 PM. Morris Knolls has seen its point totals steadily rise over the past three games, a trend the team will no doubt hope to continue.
Roxbury kept its opponent West Morris Mendham off the scoreboard entirely last week, winning the match 28-0. Junior Evan Vazquez didn't have many carries in the previous game, but he had more touches this time and made them count as he ran for 121 yards and punched in two touchdowns.
With both Roxbury and Morris Knolls swaggering in after impressive performances, we'll find out which team will step up to teach the other some humility.

Fullerton's Big Plan: New Life for a Vacant Roxbury 'Eyesore'
A former cement plant in Kenvil that's been unused for a decade, and is now a graffiti-covered, dilapidated "eyesore," would be cleaned up and converted into the new home for a local company, under plans being reviewed by the township.
If it receives approval for the project, Fullerton Grounds Maintenance would relocate to the 77 Hillside Ave. site from its current headquarters on Berkshire Valley Road in Kenvil. It would do so after demolishing some parts of the former cement plant and completely restoring others, according to plans on file with the township.
