Flat Top

July 13, 2024

On Saturday, July 13th, Flat Top 4-H Club held our monthly meeting. We all helped clean up the Yampa Shooting Range for part of this meeting. The club picked up roughly 5 bags of trash/bullet shells. There were seven club members that did demonstrations this meeting: Janek Anzulewicz, Ethan Ahlgrim, Gavin Ahlgrim, Henry, Olivia Rossi, Mia Cranwell, Emily Rossi.

Mrs. Rossi also did the yearly record book checks. Our next meeting is for people that are doing livestock and it will be held on August 4th at 6:30pm.

Respectfully submitted by: Gavin Ahlgrim

We need everyone's help in keeping us healthy at the Routt County Fair. By following these three simple steps, you can help do your part in keeping you and your animals flu free!

  1. Don't bring disease to the fair... bring only healthy animals and freshly cleaned equipment.
  2. Don't get disease at the fair... don't mix your animals or equipment with others. Wash your hands often, especially before and after handling animals.
  3. Don't bring disease home from the fair... keep your show animals away from your home animals for 30 days after returning from the fair. Don't share space, tools, or equipment between your home herd and show herd.

  • Home Arts - The Routt County Fair Home Arts would like to encourage 4-Hers to enter Exhibit Day projects (that aren't going to the State Fair Competition) into the additional competition of the Home Arts Show in the Exhibit Hall at Fair. If a project does not fit in a regular class, then simply enter the project under the "4-H Projects" department and the ladies at the Exhibit Hall will split the boards and have them judged appropriately. Vet Science is a great example of this. The display boards do not fit into any of the Home Arts Classes, therefore, they should be entered in the appropriate age group under the "4-H Projects" Department. Entries open online August 1st!
  • 4-H members/families who have not exhibited at Fair in the Exhibit Hall in the last 3 years, need to create a NEW account on the ROUTT COUNTY FAIR OPEN SHOWS entry site. Instructions on registration can be found in the Fair Book (page 107-110).
  • Open Shows, Concert Tickets, and Open Contests can all be found here!

Routt County 4-H Leadership Opportunities

THANK YOU all for the help that you pour into our Routt County 4-H youth each and every year. We could not do what we do without all of you!

Routt County 4-H Cloverbuds

What is a Cloverbud? Cloverbuds are members from 5-7 years old who are not quite ready to participate in many of the projects and activities that the rest of the older 4-H members participate in.

What can Cloverbuds do? The Cloverbud program is focused on participation, teamwork, and learning (not so much on competition). Several of our clubs host Cloverbud events during their regular monthly meetings, and our Routt County 4-H Junior Leaders host 5 Cloverbud workshops throughout the spring and summer to get our youngest members excited about 4-H.

Enrollment - $15/Cloverbud Member

Here is a LINK to how to enroll, and much more. Cloverbud members are not required to attend monthly meetings, but any member wanting to join the Cloverbud workshops must be enrolled as a Cloverbud member. Call our office with any questions - we are here to help you!
