Children & Youth Ministries Weekly Update

2023 Bike Hike is a wrap!! We had an amazing time at Farragut State Park and one night in Spokane. Throughout the week we worked through the Lord's Prayer. We discussed why Jesus taught us to pray this way and how this prayer is an outline for every prayer we make. Each day we took a different sentence of the Lord's Prayer and talked about why it is important. Together we prayed, biked, swam, hiked, and even got some line dancing lessons. Thank you all for sharing your students this week for a great time of camping! It is a blessing and an honor to share in life together!

Popsicles in the Park

Join Tifny Mathena and the Summer Interns at Father Blanchet Neighborhood Park, south of MacArthur Boulevard and west of Lieser Road. Bring a blanket or lawn chair... we'll provide the popsicles! The Interns will lead the kids in organized games and fun.

Backpack Bonanza

Blessing of the Backpacks

On Sunday, August 20, we encourage students of ANY AGE to bring their backpack to church and lay them in front of the communion table. We’ll bless all the backpacks (including the ones donated for Mac) and all the students that will be wearing them.

Backpacks for Mac

Please consider donating a new backpack in support of our neighbors at McLoughlin Middle School (Mac) and George C. Marshall Elementary. We hope to collect as many new backpacks and shoes as possible so that we can have them sorted, stocked, and ready for pick up during back-to-school and orientation events in August.

Here are the priorities for this year’s back-to-school drive:

  1. BACKPACKS!
  2. Other school supplies: colored pencils, composition notebooks, highlighters, student pencil sharpeners.
  3. NOT needed: pencils and packs of loose-leaf paper.
  4. You may financially contribute to support both schools in multiple ways by giving to CPC and designating “Marshall/Mac Ministry” in the memo line.
  5. NEW! We will also be collecting new athletic shoes (suitable for running, gym, and PE classes). Shoes are a constant need at Mac and having actual shoes on-site makes it easier to distribute shoes to families as needed.
  • Men's sizes 7-9
  • Women's sizes 5-8

Backpack collection boxes will be located in both the Gathering Area and the church office lobby beginning this Sunday. Let’s fill them up with backpacks and shoes for the families of Marshall and McLoughlin (Mac) students! Contact Julie Mauer or Nancy Johns for more information.
