Dear Rockford Lutheran Family and Friends,

The Board of Directors of Rockford Lutheran School is pleased to announce that Dr. Alan P. Runge has accepted a call to serve as RLS’s new Head of School effective May 23, 2022. 

Dr. Runge comes to RLS from the St. Louis area where he recently served as the President and Superintendent of the Lutheran High School Association of St. Louis, an association with two schools serving over 800 students. Prior to that appointment, Dr. Runge served as Head of School for the Hong Kong International School where he served a student body of over 2700 students. He holds his Ph.D. in Educational Administration from the University of Nebraska and to his credit is the recipient of a numerous Professional Honors as well as being a successful author of many professional papers. Dr. Runge is also an outdoor enthusiast, commercial pilot, and scuba diver, among other things. As Head of School, Dr. Runge will serve as head administrator at RLS with a focus on strategy, fundraising initiatives, and community outreach. 

Dr. Runge and his family will be relocating to the Rockford area in the near future. RLS is blessed to have a man the caliber of Dr. Runge in its midst, and we wish he and his family all the best as they start a new chapter in their walk with Christ.
