COVID-19 CASES SEE A BUMP; RESIDENTS ENCOURAGED TO CONTINUE TAKING PRECAUTIONS
Cases of COVID-19 have been on the rise in the state, county and right here in Riverton over the last week. To view the data on cases in the county, visit the SLCo Health Department's dashboard.

We strongly encourage all residents (both young and old) to continue abiding by all COVID-19 health guidelines, including:

  • Maintaining a 6 foot distance from other people whenever possible.
  • Wearing a mask when you cannot maintain a 6 foot distance from others.
  • Washing your hands frequently throughout the day for at least 20 seconds.
  • Staying home if you are sick or not feeling well.

Join us on Monday, September 28 at 7 p.m. at Riverton High School for a special Live in Real Life event featuring Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes. AG Reyes will present on “Protecting Our Children from Suicide, Addiction, Abuse and Other Silent Threats.” The event is free and open to all, though pre-registration is required. Seating is limited due to COVID-19. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. and it is anticipated the event will last about an hour. Face masks required.

RESIDENTS INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN NEW HALLOWEEN HOUSE DECORATING CONTEST
Bragging rights are up for grabs this year for the best-decorated house for Halloween in Riverton! Residents who decorate their homes/yards for Halloween are invited to participate in the new Halloween House Decorating Contest. It is free to participate. Spread the word to those you know who might be interested in participating!

Contest winners will receive the following:
  • 1st Place - $200
  • 2nd Place - $100
  • 3rd Place - $50

Riverton City plans to publish a map and share it on Facebook prior to Halloween of contest entries so families can drive by all the awesome houses/yards that have been decorated.
AS GENERAL ELECTION APPROACHES, ENSURE YOUR VOTER INFORMATION IS UP TO DATE
The General Election on Tuesday, November 3 is fast approaching! We encourage every Riverton resident who is age 18 and older to vote. If you aren't registered, if you have recently moved, or if you aren't sure what your registration status is, click on the button below.

Ballots will be mailed to active registered voters on Tuesday, October 13.

HOW TO VOTE
  1. Mail your ballot in. Ballots must be postmarked no later than Monday, November 2.
  2. Drop your ballot off at a ballot drop-box or vote center. A drop-box is available at Riverton City Hall.
  3. Vote in-person on Election Day or during the early voting period at a designated vote center.

Help honor a veteran at Riverton City Cemetery this Christmas by sponsoring a $15 wreath through the Wreaths Across America program. Our goal is to have a wreath for every veteran this year!

RIVERTON POLICE DEPARTMENT REMINDS RESIDENTS TO KEEP GARAGE DOORS CLOSED AND CARS LOCKED
The Riverton Police Department would like to remind residents of the importance of ensuring that garage doors are closed, cars are locked and of not keeping valuable items in vehicles. There's been a handful of burglaries in the area so we want to ensure you are taking the proper precautions to protect your property!

If you see any activity that might be suspicious, please don't hesitate to call RPD Dispatch at 801-840-4000.
REMINDER: SECONDARY WATER SHUT-OFF
The seasonal shut-off date for Riverton City’s secondary water system is Thursday, October 15. The date is dependent on if canal companies end up shutting off canals sooner than that date. Sprinkler systems should be winterized to protect them from cold temperatures by the end of November.

It is anticipated that secondary water service will be fully restored for the 2021 summer season by May 1.

Bangerter Highway / 12600 S Interchange Project
UDOT continues work on the Bangerter Highway / 12600 S interchange project. Click here to view project updates or find information. It is expected that a full closure of east/west traffic flow at the intersection will begin in January or February and continue for six months, though closure date and length of closure are subject to change. It is anticipated the freeway style interchange will be completed by Fall 2021.

Census 2020 **FINAL CALL**
The 2020 U.S. Census continues in Riverton through the end of September. Just over 20% of Riverton households still need to respond to the Census. Click here to take the Census for your household. An accurate Census count will benefit Riverton City for the coming decade.

Drive-Thru Flu Shot Clinic
Riverton Hospital will be hosting their annual Drive-thru Flu Shot Clinic on Saturday, October 10 and Saturday, October 24 from 9 a.m. to Noon. Select Health, Medicare and Medicaid insurances accepted at no charge. $39 for self-pay, cash or check accepted. Enter the north side of the campus off of 12600 S.

Glass Recycling
Riverton City's glass recycling bin is located just off 13400 S on 4050 W, east of both the Maverik and South Hills Middle School and west of Holiday Oil Chevron. Click here for a map or recycling details. Residents are encouraged to use the bin to recycle glass items.

HAM Radio Check-Ins
The Riverton HAM radio group holds a radio check-in on the second Sunday of each month at 8:30 p.m. There are over 400 licensed HAM operators in the city and the group would like to have as many as possible participate. The Riverton HAM radio frequency is 145.710 simplex.

Landfill Passes
Planning some fall cleaning or yard work? Pick up a free pass to the Trans-Jordan Landfill at the Utility Billing Office at Riverton City Hall. Limit of two passes per year per household.

Riverton City's Halloween Bash will move forward on Monday, October 26. The event has been adjusted due to COVID-19. Click here for event details.
