A fresh and invigorating show is opening in the Confluent Gallery at River District Arts this month. The show brings the outdoors inside and give us glimpses of breathtaking beauty seen through the trained and sensitive eyes of two Piedmont artists-- Richard Young and Leslie Barham. They collaborate to bring you a show filled with light and contrast, flowing from lifetimes of familiarity with the landscapes and natural forms we love. These artists complement each other; Richard Young paints luminous scenes of distant landscape, while Leslie Barham depicts up close details from our natural world.
Richard and Leslie are both retired art teachers who devoted decades to helping young people find artistic expression. Both are living nearby in the Piedmont and are members of the "Firnew Farm Artists Circle", a boisterous and talented group of artists based in Madison County, VA lead by Trish Crow which come together once a week to be inspired and to critique each other at the Crowe's Firnew Farm.
For more information on the artists, see Richard Young and Leslie Barham. (links)
