Get ready for the 50th anniversary of Earth Day with this workshop chock-full of hands-on eco-activities to celebrate each month leading up to April 22nd, 2020. Lots of resources and guidance to get you off and running!

Activities can be adapted for elementary through high school as well as eco-club, honors societies, and volunteerism clubs. Register here.
Do recent events have you and your students motivated to do your part to fight climate change? The Pumpkin Smash is a great way to get started!

Since 2014, the Pumpkin Smash has helped curb emissions from landfills by offering residents an option to compost their pumpkins to the tune of over 254 tons of pumpkins so far. Help us green Halloween!

We're going digital! As of September 1st, SCARCE has adopted a new computer check-in/check-out system. Further, there is a now $5 charge per box of items taken. Please review the full policy here.
Has your school considered taking the plunge to go solar? The declining cost of solar and current incentives make it a great choice for schools. Take Lake Park High School District 108 for example, they recently received ComEd's largest solar rebate to date at over $450,000.

Solar arrays serve as a great educational tool and can set your school apart as a sustainability leader in your community.

School Garden Opportunities: Grants & Contests
There are several opportunities to get support for your school garden - whether it's up and running or just a project-in-waiting. Check out each one below:
Your students can be a part of this project to protect clean water in DuPage County. Sign up to install storm drain medallions in your community before it gets too cold!

Calling all DuPage County high schools!
The Sustainable Design Challenge offers a hands-on,career-focused STEAM opportunity that can't be reivaled in the classroom. Research-Design-Present-Learn-Win! This program is free to participate in and open to any DuPage County high school student. The 2020 challenge is on Tuesday, April 21st. Contact carrie@scarce.org to get started.
