"Deep Roots" is Back!
Family Environmental Program June 3 10:30am-11:15am

Did you miss the first "Deep Roots" event?
Great news! Our friendly, singing and dancing eagle, owl and sunshine are back to delight your family.
Perfect for children preschool age through 2nd grade, Deep Roots encourages everyone to learn about the deep roots of prairie plants here in Illinois - the Prairie State! The cost is $10 per family and you must register because space is limited.

Local Schools Celebrate Our Earth!

Stevenson Elementary (Lombard) played eco-Bingo and did an outdoor cleanup. They found hundreds of golf balls!
|

Sunnydale Elementary (Streamwood) collected bread tags and came for a tour of SCARCE. Good to see you!

Pierce Downer Elementary (Downers Grove) hosted a puzzle exchange as part of its Earth Day activities. Way to reuse!

Daisy Girl Scouts from Lincoln Elementary (Wheaton) visited SCARCE for 3Rs and Recycled Papermaking.

Schaumburg High School hosted a Band-Aid concert fundraiser. Bev from SCARCE (left) and Divya from Schaumburg High School attended the delightful event, which raised over $1,300 for SCARCE's education programs. Thanks, Schaumburg!

York Community High School
Wins Two Awards
York High School (Elmhurst) was recognized as #6 in the nation for collecting over 8,000 pounds of plastic bags and films! The bags will get turned into park benches. The school will get a bench in addition to its cash prize.

SCARCE offers many ways for students to help our community and the environment, including short-term activities as well as weekly opportunities at our reuse and recycling center.
