San Jose Ride-and-Drive - September 24th

On Saturday, September 24th, you can get behind the wheel of an electric car, experience the latest technology, win prizes, and more: Lots of electric vehicles, local food trucks, music, lawn games, face painting, and raffle giveaways! Our 4th annual Ride and Drive will be held at San Jose's Lake Cunningham Park. This year we expect to have cars from Hyundai, Jaguar, Range Rover, Tesla, and Toyota. Register now to attend.

Breath of Life Walk - Saturday, October 8

Join us for our 20th Walk to support lung health in our community! Get your own official Breath of Life Walk t-shirt or protective face mask. Enjoy continental breakfast, Zumba warm-up exercises, a raffle, displays about lung health, and prizes for walkers who fundraise! The 5K (1.3 mile) Breath of Life Walk at beautiful Hellyer County Park in San Jose is a chance for local community members to get together and show their support in the fight against lung disease. Register now to walk or volunteer.

TB Webinar with CDC Officials - September 8th

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently released the first TB prevention campaign called Think. Test. Treat TB which aims to reach those most at risk for LTBI (Latent Tuberculosis Infection) and their health providers to encourage TB testing and treatment before TB disease develops with devastating impacts. This multilingual campaign particularly addresses the health disparity among Asian Americans. Join our allies at the Coalition for a TB-free California and the Association of Asian Pacific Community Health Organizations on Friday, September 8th at 11am Pacific for a webinar with CDC officials to dialogue about the TB prevention campaign. Climate Change's Impact on Babies and Children

The burning of fossil fuels is a major source of air pollution and climate change, both of which endanger the physical and mental health of of children, especially those that are socio-economically disadvantaged. The New England Journal of Medicine recently published an article describing the problem and encouraging health professionals to use available strategies to understand and address the multiple harms to fetuses, infants, and children created by our dependence on fossil fuels. UN Declares Healthy Environment a Human Right

In July the United Nations General Assembly passed a historic declaration that everyone on the planet has a right to a healthy environment, including clean air, water, and a stable climate. “The resolution will help reduce environmental injustices, close protection gaps and empower people, especially those that are in vulnerable situations,” UN Secretary-General António Guterres said. Now it is up to member countries to implement their own policies to combat the triple planetary crises of climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss. Read more.
