The hard work during the off-season paid huge dividends for Douglas Motorsports as the #7 AMSOIL Borla Exhaust Walker Evans Racing Cooper Tire Ford Raptor wins the opening PRO-4x4 round of racing in the TORC Series presented by AMSOIL. The bullring type layout the was created at the Dirt Track at Texas Motor Speedway seemed to fit Scott Douglas perfectly as his nine hundred horsepower four wheel truck was fast from the first moment on the track to the checkered flag on Saturday night. The opening weekend of the season would be the second time the Fort Worth, Texas track would hold a TORC event and the third short-course race in the last eight years. This year's event saw heavy rain blanket the area for three days which caused Friday's racing to be cancelled. Thankfully Mother Nature changed her attitude, as Saturday morning gave way to sunny skies and warm temperatures. Saturday morning was the first time any of the competitors put their race trucks on the track, and the two practice session had Douglas looking very comfortable at the wheel of the AMSOIL PRO-4x4. When afternoon qualifying took place, the El Cajon, California native recorded the quickest time in the PRO-4x4 field. The TORC starting inversion positioned the familiar white and black PRO-4 on the outside of the second row. The final race of the TORC program saw the #7 AMSOIL Borla Exhaust Walker Evans Racing Cooper Tire Ford Raptor hold his starting position during much of the first half of the twenty lap race. Just before the halfway mandatory caution, Douglas moved around Mike Jenkins to take third place. When green flag racing resumed, Douglas took a more aggressive approach to the race. Immediately he moved up one spot, and began pressuring the leader Johnny Greaves. On lap twelve Greaves made a mistake and Douglas powered his AMSOIL PRO-4 into the lead. The rest of the race, Douglas gradually distanced himself from the rest of the field. At the conclusion of the twenty lap finale, Scott Douglas crossed the finish line as the winner of the first PRO-4x4 race of the TORC season. "I love these type of tracks, the tighter the better," remarked Scott Douglas. "The track really got rough, and the bigger the holes the better, it really brought me back to my desert racing days. This was my first race on Cooper Tires, and we're one for one, that's awesome! I have to thank all the fans that came out tonight and the great work the TORC crew performed to get the track ready, I know we put on a great show tonight." Afterwards Scott Douglas added, "Over the winter our team went through some changes and I really recommitted our effort. The goal of winning the PRO-4x4 Championship really resonates strongly at the shop as well as at our pit set-up at the track. Everyone on our team, from the guys back at the shop to the crew at the track, made this win possible. I have a great partners like AMSOIL, Borla Exhaust, Walker Evans Racing, Cooper Tires as well all the other companies on the side of the truck, and Douglas Motorsports isn't settling for anything less than a championship." The next event on the TORC Series presented by AMSOIL is "The Rumble on the River" May 16-17, at Gateway Motorsports Park in St. Louis. The network broadcast of the "Roundup in Texas" will be June 11 at 10PM EST on Fox Sports 2.
