We are each unique and we all belong. A priesthood of all believers.

Greetings in the name of our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ.

Today, I want to encourage everyone that has been told that you are not unique and don’t belong because of who and what God has created you to be.

Part of the MCC Statement of Faith tells us that we all are unique, regardless of who and what you are. We all belong. A priesthood of all believers, with no doubt.

When you are created– all of us– God gave us a unique set of fingerprints that none of us share with anyone. That makes us so unique.

The Book of Psalms 139:16-18 (MSG) says:

Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out; you formed me in my mother’s womb. I thank you, High God—you’re breathtaking! Body and soul, I am marvelously made! I worship in adoration—what a creation! You know me inside and out, you know every bone in my body; You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into something. Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you, The days of my life all prepared before I’d even lived one day.

This is the truth that we all need to celebrate. We have been marvelously made in the creation and in the image of God. We need to celebrate that truth.

I want to end by saying in our Zulu language. This is how we greet. We say “Sawubona.” That means “I see you.”

I see you today as a unique creation of God, and you belong. Never doubt it. You are unique by the way you are. You don’t have to change anything about yourself. And you belong in this world. And you belong– a priesthood of all believers. You have been included. Never ever allow anyone to tell you otherwise.
