Hello Business,

In the sixteenth week of ordinary time, we are encouraged to hear what Jesus is saying to us when he says, “Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest awhile.” Jesus is teaching us the value of selfcare and rest, and yet things do not go as planned for Jesus. Jesus is moved by the needs of others once again and cares for His people. Showing us that our needs are never overlooked by the Lord.

To which our response, made with confidence and trust is for us to proclaim with faith and joy, “The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.”

A few months ago, Pope Francis asked all Catholics to read the Constitutions, Documents and Decrees that came out of Vatican II, and then to see how we are doing living those ideas, concepts and inspirations. This request was to pave the way for our parishes to enter into a year of prayer and meditation to prepare our hearts for the Year of Jubilee in 2025.

As a staff we each took different Vatican II articles to read and present to one another and then talk about on retreat. We spent the day together on Wednesday doing just that. It was rich! We will continue this conversation as we continue to regularly meet, pray and grow in faith together.

We found the books by Bill Huebsch to be especially rich and helpful (Three volumes called, “Vatican II in Plain English: The Council, The Constitutions, The Decrees and Declarations) if you would like to join us in this focus, please use these resources as well as watch this excellent documentary to familiarize yourself about the amazing Holy Spirit inspired Vatican II!

Upcoming Events and Opportunities:

Summer is upon us!

The smell of sunscreen is in the air as the kids finish school and vacations are well under way. What comes to your mind when we think of summer? Sunny days, baseball games, time at the coast, barbeques and fun days at the pool?

We will miss you when you are away. Before you leave to enjoy your well-deserved getaway, please consider automating your gifts to our parish by utilizing our online giving platform, Weshare.

Whether you give online or by the envelope, you are a necessary part of our family, and we thank God for you. Your support is such a blessing to our parish, and we look forward to building memories and sharing in God's work with you for years to come.

If you have not had a chance to enroll in online giving and would like to, please visit our Weshare page.

Attention to ministries that submitted Hand in Hand requests for the fiscal year 2024-2025:

Your requests have been approved as requested.

Thanks to the generosity of our parishioners, Hand In Hand will be able to assist seven groups this year. Bethlehem Women’s Co-Op, Celebrate Life, EDGE Service Project, Life Teen, Peace & Justice, Prayer Shawl and Quilting are all the recipients of 2024-2025 Hand In Hand’s support. These are all active ministries at Resurrection Catholic Parish.

The results of these disbursements help the ministries in areas such as: diaper drive, community outreach, Love in Action, Family Promise, summer mission week, meals at St. Andre Bissette, prayer shawls, winter hats, blankets for babies, infant Baptismal shawls, supporting foster children, local care facilities and other good neighbor deeds. Thank you so much for the loving support you have provided.

If you are looking to join or help these groups, please contact the ministry leads. The emails for these leads can be found on our website www.rcparish.org.

We have two exciting new options for donating to the parish and a new opportunity for helping with credit card transaction fees.

Weshare has enabled people to make payments using PayPal for their scheduled donations.

Apple Pay is an option for the one-time payment donations.

Weshare is now providing the donor with the option to increase the donation amount to cover the credit card costs for any charges that are incurred through the transaction process. We already have 8% of participants opting in to help cover these costs. We thank you for all the help!

As we end this budget year, we are so incredibly grateful for all the support we have received.

A Message from The Archbishop

I have been your archbishop here in Western Oregon for 11 years now, and I want you to know that through much consultation, a lot of listening, but more importantly, a lot of prayer, I believe the Lord has put on my heart a clear vision and mission forward for us here as the church in Western Oregon.

And it centers around three things:

1.      a strong and united brotherhood of priests,

2.      mission-passionate Catholic education, and

3.      parishes and a people formed to evangelize.

The Archbishop's Catholic appeal helps make this Vision a reality.

By giving to the ACA you have a direct impact on our priests, schools, parishes, and all the vital programs and ministries that we all depend upon to sustain the Catholic Church in Western Oregon for today and for future generations.

Archbishops Catholic Appeal

Those of us who live in West Linn and Tualatin are aware that we live in affluent communities. However, we may not be aware that in 2022 - 3.3% of West Linn families and 9.5% of Tualatin families were living below the poverty line. Resurrection's Saint Vincent de Paul Conference assists some of these families by helping to pay their rent and utilities and delivering needed food to them.

In June, we delivered food to 10 families, 47 people.

We also helped pay rent and utilities for 23 families, 51 people.

Our pantry could use canned stew and canned fruit this week.

Thank you for your continued support of our mission.

QCD

A qualified charitable distribution (QCD) allows individuals who are 70½ years old or older to donate up to $105,000 total to one or more charities directly from a taxable IRA instead of taking their required minimum distributions.

RMD

Required minimum distributions (RMDs) are the minimum amounts you must withdraw from your retirement accounts each year. You generally must start taking withdrawals from your traditional IRA, SEP IRA, SIMPLE IRA, and retirement plan accounts when you reach age 72.

If you are over 72 years of age you qualify to take annual distributions from your retirement account to make tax free donations to charities of your choice.

Resurrection Church is a qualified public charity 501(c)(3) and can receive your QCD.

We thank you in advance for considering Resurrection Catholic Church and School as recipients of your donations.
