ALICE FOX

Wild Fibres

A brilliant course was delivered once again by Alice, with 13 students in tow. She also gave an inspiring talk the evening before her course, with 26 visitors in the studio and followed by 3 very inspirational and creative days. There were a few local students but the majority came from much further afield including one from Switzerland and another from Germany. It was very much like the good old days before Covid when classes were full and students came from all over the world. I do hope that students will begin to travel a little more now, as although there is a place for on-line teaching, there is nothing like face to face workshops.

The following images show what the class did.

Thanks to the students for these enjoyable days spent with you and THANK YOU ALICE

These first three show Alice guiding the students to collect the correct plants from the garden.

The two below show how these plants were processed into yarns through twisting......and then small weavings were created with these yarns, as can be seen in the next two images.

Above Left: Further plants were collected, processed and hung up to dry ready for use.

Above Right: This image, shows samples from Alice's own collection.

This final picture shows a selection of the work completed by the students held in the palm of their hand.

Thanks to the students for these enjoyable days spent with you and THANK YOU ALICE

LUNCHTIME FOOD AT MOOR HALL

Thanks must also go to my dear friend Michelle who does the catering at Moor Hall for the lunchtime meals. Even when she is away she still manages to take good care of us. On this course for example she prepared 3 types of quiche for us for each of the three days. All I had to make were a few salads and it all seemed to go down well.

THANK YOU MICHELLE

PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP

‘A Sense of Place’

Landscape Photography Workshop

with Keith Pointon

Saturday 14 September 2024, 10.30-4pm

COST £30

S

Some of you may remember me mentioning Black Mountain Chapel before. We use it for one of the venues for the Bettws Triangle, art and muisc festival and it is just up the hill from Moor Hall. This chapel is very special to the community and inparticular those that care for it first hand. You can imagine the upset when we discovered that the capping stones, which were over 175 years old, had been stolen from one side of the surrounding wall.

Not to be disheartened we have some fundraising events planned for the Autumn and this photography workshop is just one of them. We are also grateful for some funding support that has been promised towards replacing some of these stones.

Those of you that came to our festival in June, may well remember the lovely exhibition by Keith Pointon in Black Mountain Chapel.

This workshop will focus on Keith offering ideas and approaches to capture your experiences of the landscape.

Based at Black Mountain Chapel you will explore its inspiring setting, high in the Shropshire hills.

To be followed by an exhibition of students’ photographs in October

Hot and cold drinks provided.

Bring your camera of choice, your charger and a packed lunch. Bring your camera or simply your mobile phone or your ipad?
