Come to explore how a floor plan of your house or favourite rooms could provide you with interesting ways to create a contemporary take on kantha in which some simple outlines of household objects, furniture, people, animals and decorative border patterns can be included.

NEW EXPLORATORY TEXTILE GROUP

I am testing the ground with a new monthly group for those willing to be challenged to explore and find their own particularly style of working.This is a new course to Moor Hall and is designed for students that have some experience with textiles, although the most important ingredient will be the ability to investigate, research and explore around a 'theme or an idea' and to create works that are exciting, innovative and original.

I will encourage fresh thinking through the introduction of a techinique or process, that students can investigate further and in their own unique ways. This course will not be about my work or about a technique where students all arrive at similar outcomes, but about pushing 'an idea' and embracing textile techniques on this journey.

Much of my role will be in mentoring you as individuals and in encouraging and suggesting routes that you could be taking. It will also be about sharing your thought process with others in the group.
