Good Timing

That's me celebrating in Petra, Jordan. We were over there last year on our PCN Holy Land Tour. This fall, a group is heading for Rome and Italy, plus Austria. I try to get jumping pictures on many of my trips. Don't know why, I just do. This one was on my own, climbing up here, setting the timer on my phone, and jumping at the right time. It worked out, which doesn't always happen.

I'm glad we, as believers in Jesus Christ, serve a living Savior, a God whose timing is always perfect. Paul writes, "'when the right time came, God sent his Son..." (Gal 4:4). The pilgrims came to America in search of religious freedom. They were not allowed to worship as they wanted in the early 1600's. England required its citizens to belong to the Church of England. People wanted to practice their religious beliefs freely, and so many fled to the Netherlands, where laws were more flexible. After several years there, they decided to set out for the New World and build a new life. The pilgrims boarded the Mayflower in 1620 and sailed to the Americas. They had difficulties, but also religious freedom. Good timing.

Today we have difficulties, but Paul again writes to those early Christians in Asia Minor and to us today, "...let's not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don't give up." (Galatians 6:9) God is Sovereign, his timing is perfect. Worship and rejoice in the Lord always.

Nearly a year after the deadly wind-whipped flames raced through parts of the island of Maui in Hawaii, our PCN member church, Daybreak Church in Kailua, Oahu, has been able to make several trips with small teams over to the upcountry part of Maui which suffered much, but received little media attention. It is called Kula, a quaint, rustic area on the slopes of Haleakala. Through the generous donations of many PCN and Venture Church Network supporters, time, effort, and supplies have gone to families to help them reestablish life after the devastating fires. Every time they go over, doors open for greater opportunities for connection. Malama Kula staff and residents of Kula have expressed their deep appreciation for our continued support. It's a long road ahead - not only of physical work but also in providing the emotional support and hope for those who experienced the fires last August. See the video below to learn more.

TAILGATE PARTY

2:30 - 5:30 | Saturday, July 20

New this year! Harvest is hosting a massive Tailgate Party under the Big A in the parking lot featuring Miles Minnick, Bodie, and Living Again Band. This high-energy event will have food trucks, carnival-type games, and free giveaways. It is geared toward youth and young adults, but anyone can attend. The pre-concert, games, and giveaways go from 2:30-5:30 PM before the Harvest Crusade main event inside Angel Stadium.

HARVEST CRUSADE

July 20

The Harvest Crusade is coming back this summer to Angel Stadium for a one night only event. Make plans to join us for this free event. There will be worship from some of the top worship artists including CHRIS TOMLIN, PHIL WICKHAM and BROOKE LIGERTWOOD, and a message that can change your life from GREG LAURIE. Starts at 7:00 PM, Gates open at 5:30 PM.

SOUTH INDIA PASTORS CONFERENCE

South India Baptist General Association

PCN was grateful to receive a donation of $1,500 to help hundreds of pastors attend their Annual Conference being held this month in Bangalore, South India. SIBGA is a member of CB Global, under the ministry of Pacific Church Network. Asish Mathew is the President of this association and appreciates the relationship we have with them. Thank you for thinking of and praying for them in India. Pray for those traveling to the conference and for the three days of teaching. Persecution of Christians in India has increased. Let's support our brothers and sisters in Christ with our prayers.

PCN SPANISH MINISTRIES

On Saturday, June 29, about 99 Men attended the summer Men's Conference at Missionary Baptist Church in Norwalk. Dr. Alex Montoya was the guest speaker, along with the excellent praise band from the church. Those attending enjoyed being hosted in the newly completed fellowship hall at Missionary Baptist.

• On August 10, PCN Español will host a Family Conference at Iglesia Fortaleza in Whittier, 5838 Magnolia Ave, Whittier, CA 90601. This will be for the whole family.
• Spanish Women's Retreat - Forest Home, September 13-15
• Spanish Men's Retreat - Pine Summit, October 18-20

This September, leaders from around the world will gather in Sendai, Japan, for the CB Global Annual Conference. CB Global is a fellowship of evangelical church associations under the ministry of Pacific Church Network. Already we have exceeded our expectations and have sold out our hotel reservations. Other hotels are in the area and arrangements may be made individually. We have guest speakers from Guam, Myanmar and the Philippines, plus we'll have updates and a time of prayer for each association represented at the meetings. At the conclusion of our time together, we will join the 60th anniversary celebration of CB Japan!

Our core commitments are:

1. Establishing. We plant new churches through our associations in order to expand the kingdom and fulfill the great commission.
2. Encouraging. We support and encourage each other, actively participate in the network, and partner together as church associations to become more effective in serving our Lord.
3. Equipping. We resource each other to continuously grow our leadership and ministry effectiveness.
4. Embracing. We are associations that are gospel-driven, biblically focused, disciple-making, and relationally committed.

Rev. Johnny Cometa, (pictured on the left) joined PCN a year ago as our voluntary, Minister-at-Large, after retiring from a distinguished career as a military chaplain and pastor. Along with his wife, Ningning, they minister the gospel of Jesus Christ wherever God opens the doors. This summer, Johnny and Ning are serving in Norway. Recently, they traveled to the neighboring country of Sweden to see Ning's cousin, Vilma. While there, they visited a restaurant owned by the husband of a close family friend named Jovy. When Jovy shared that their restaurant was haunted, Johnny took it as an opportunity to talk about Jesus. Johnny shared the gospel and Jovy and Vilma both received Christ!!! Afterward, they dedicated the house and restaurant to the Lord! Praise God!  

We’re looking for 6 nursery volunteers to give their time to provide childcare during our Spanish Ministries Family Event in August. Volunteers must already be screened and qualified to provide childcare at their own church. Bi-lingual is a plus, but not necessary. We’d love our English-language churches to help our Spanish-language churches at this event to be held at one of our member churches in Whittier. Please contact Lorena Duran if you can volunteer.
