PROFILES IN MENTAL HEALTH COURAGE A SPECIAL EVENT AND BOOK SIGNING

On Wednesday, July 24, Silver Hill Hospital is proud to host former representative and leading mental health advocate, Patrick J. Kennedy (pictured top left with event panelists) for a compelling dialogue on mental health, followed by a book signing of his recently published, Profiles in Mental Health Courage.

Kennedy, who sponsored the landmark Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act, and subsequently founded The Kennedy Forum, will be joined by a panel of experts for discussion on two topics of paramount importance in the field: Access to Care and the Youth Mental Health Crisis. The event will begin with a Fireside Chat with Patrick Kennedy and Andrew J. Gerber, MD, PhD, President and Medical Director of Silver Hill Hospital.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Profiles in Mental Health Courage — a parallel to John F. Kennedy's Profiles in Courage (1956) — chronicles the extraordinary stories of 12 individuals whose lives have been profoundly impacted by mental illness and substance use. In sharing these stories, Kennedy offers a real-life view of mental illness, the struggles, challenges, and reality. The stories are beautiful, heart-wrenching, and have the power to alter perspectives and pave the way for a new understanding and perception of mental health, addiction, and treatment.
