RESEARCH AND SPONSORED PROGRAMS | SEPTEMBER 2022

REACHING NEW HEIGHTS

Research is on the rise at Fresno State, where we’re proud to announce a fourth-straight record-setting year in grants and contracts. Our congratulations to the faculty and staff who received 418 awards and $54.7 million to support their research last year – a 13.4% increase over 2020-21. We are proud to support their work.

Grants and contracts come in all shapes and sizes, from modest awards to individual faculty members to multimillion-dollar grants that involve college-wide, university-wide and community-wide cooperation. More than 590 proposals were submitted through our office last year, with the College of Science and Mathematics (104) leading the way.

“The phenomenal growth and success of research grants on our campus reflect the synergy between faculty, staff, administrators and our grant managers in the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs,” said Dr. Joy J. Goto, Interim Dean, Research and Graduate Studies.

We continue to see an increase in first-time project directors and were especially pleased to introduce Pivot this year to assist faculty with their funding searches. Along with the University’s new R2 designation, it’s been quite a year. We congratulate everyone for your remarkable efforts and look forward to supporting you in the years ahead.
