Faculty Development Award and University Small Research Grant programs now open for proposals
The Office of Research Development announces the Spring 2021 Faculty Development Awards, or FDA, and University Small Research Grants, or USRG, call for proposals for K-State tenured or tenure-track faculty who are interested in receiving assistance in their scholarly activities and professional development.
The Faculty Development Awards program provides support for travel to international meetings — primarily at international locations — or to meet with program officers from potential external sponsors. Due to travel constraints caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the FDA program will, for the current funding round cover either registration expenses to present at a virtual professional meeting, or travel and registration costs to present at an in-person professional meeting, but these awards will be contingent on the in-person meetings actually occurring with funds not being released until this can be confirmed.
The University Small Research Grants program is a seed grant program to support early research, scholarly activity, and other creative efforts.

Running to Stand Still: Legislative Realities for the New Administration and 117th Congress Webinar
|
|
This webinar will explore major federal research and economic development initiatives on the horizon and the road to passage in the 117th Congress. While the Biden administration and many democrats in Congress have goals of substantially expanding the scope of federal funding for research, development, and commercialization of technologies in certain areas, the realities of a closely divided Congress will likely slow the movement of the president’s agenda and limit the scope of what can be achieved. Many pieces of legislation will be crafted quickly and policy platforms will be shaped early, but passage and final compromises will inch forward slowly. Leslee Gilbert will discuss how organizations should approach the new administration and Congress to maximize their chances of success in the long run.
