Meetings with your CPH Post-Award Contact

In addition to the monthly PI Summary report you receive for each grant, regular meetings are a good way to stay on top of potential issues and budgetary monitoring.

Benefits of meeting regularly:

  1. Consistent updates on ‘spend down’ progress
  2. Monitoring and anticipating the budget end date to purchase supplies, plan travel, etc. There are rules in place for ordering supplies that they may not be aware of, as well as, travel restrictions and dates
  3. Assuring faculty, staff, and students are charging effort accurately and any potential for increasing effort
  4. Subaward balances and invoicing
  5. Discuss any upcoming grants that will be awarded
  6. As well as general comradery, trust and communication

More complex grants need a little more attention and may need to meet with the PI more frequently (monthly/bimonthly/quarterly). However, salary-only grants should potentially need to meet at the very beginning of the budget period and again when we’re 120 to 90 days from the budget end date.
