Rutgers-Led Statewide Translational Research Institute Is Awarded $39.7 Million National Institutes of Health Grant

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has awarded the Rutgers Institute for Translational Medicine and Science $39,673,786 over seven years to build and improve upon infrastructure that promotes clinical and translational science through the New Jersey Alliance for Clinical and Translational Science (NJ ACTS).

Nominate/Apply Now for the Inaugural Rutgers Innovation Awards


The Office for Research is proud to announce the inaugural Rutgers Innovation Awards, to be hosted in September. We are now accepting applications and nominations for this recognition. We strongly encourage researchers at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, to nominate their peers, postdocs, or students. Applicants can apply online for one or more of the 10 categories. There is no requirement to have any patent application filed or issued.

Three Rutgers Professors Named Guggenheim Fellows


A climate scientist, a playwright and an artist have been named Guggenheim fellows for their work in fields of creative arts and environmental sciences. The three professors from Rutgers University-New Brunswick were among 188 fellows selected this year from a pool of 3,000 across 52 disciplines, according to the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, which made the announcement. They went through “a rigorous application and peer review process,” the foundation officials said, and will receive grants to pursue their proposed projects.

Rutgers-Newark and Fiserv Celebrate Opening of Inclusive Innovation Hub to Drive Diversity in Fintech Industry


Rutgers-Newark and Fiserv, a leading global provider of payments and financial technology with a flagship Innovation Center in New Jersey, celebrated the grand opening of the Rutgers-Newark Fiserv Innovation Hub (iHub). The Innovation Hub is part of the Rutgers-Newark Fiserv Inclusive Innovation Program, a multi-faceted initiative designed to leverage diversity to drive innovation in the financial technology industry through research, internships, and local entrepreneurship.

Rutgers Researcher & Teen Champion Figure Skater Search for Potential Treatments for Addiction Disorders


Morgan James, assistant professor of psychiatry at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, teamed up with Vanessa Zhang, a student from West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South and champion figure skater with an interest in computer programming, to develop a method using machine learning to screen current and existing drugs to determine which could potentially become effective treatments for addiction-related disorders.
