Renowned Talent Manager Sam Feldman Receives the Order of British Columbia

Toronto, ON - Yesterday evening, legendary talent manager Sam Feldman received The Order of British Columbia, recognizing his decades of incredible work developing and supporting the careers of award-winning artists in BC, across Canada, and beyond. The Order represents the highest form the Province can extend to its citizens, and Feldman was recognized by The Honourable Janet Austin, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, and The Honourable David Eby, Premier of British Columbia at a special investiture ceremony at Government House in Victoria.
Feldman is a co-founder of Macklam Feldman Management, an international artist management company who has represented world renowned artists such as Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, Bette Midler, Diana Krall, Sarah McLachlan, Elvis Costello, James Taylor, Norah Jones, Tracy Chapman, and Colin James, and up until recently Feldman was also Founder and CEO of Canada’s largest talent agency, The Feldman Agency.
After a staggering 50-plus years, Feldman’s involvement in various aspects of the entertainment business is still growing and evolving. Uniquely, at a time when other cities were the epicenters of the music industry, Sam chose to stay in Vancouver and is proud to have built a thriving international business from his home province.
“It is both a great honour and extremely humbling to receive the Order of British Columbia. To be recognized in this way is not something I ever aspired to or thought about but is extremely fulfilling,” says Sam Feldman. “Many years ago my family immigrated to BC because we had to and I am incredibly grateful to call this province home and receive this honour here. I’m also humbled, because I can’t help but feel that there are many professionals in our province such as nurses, doctors, police officers, and firefighters whose daily work supporting our citizens deserve accolades at least as big as this one. I dedicate this recognition to all those that form the backbone of our beautiful province and help make it one of the best places in the world to live, and also to the many artists and creators who entrusted me with bringing their music to people around the world.”
Sam Feldman is a music business executive primarily active in artist representation and management. Through his partnership in A&F Music Ltd., he has interests in Macklam Feldman Management, Bruce Allen Talent, Watchdog Management and Characters Talent Agency. He recently divested his interests in The Feldman Agency to focus on his rapidly expanding management divisions. Many of the artists he’s worked with credit Feldman with furthering their careers.
Throughout Feldman’s career he has also been involved in film and television production, live events, and music publishing, as well as record companies and related businesses, always with the goal to provide growth and career opportunities for his clientele.
Additionally, Feldman is a busy philanthropist who has aided and worked with the Sarah McLachlan School of Music, the Zajac Ranch for Children, the VGH and UBC Hospital Foundation, the Vancouver Chinatown Foundation, the Jewish Federation of Greater Vancouver, the Radcliffe Foundation, and the Clinton Giustra Enterprise Partnership, launched by former U.S. President Bill Clinton and Canadian businessman Frank Giustra.
Known as a fierce advocate for his clients and their inherent rights, Feldman has been honoured with several prestigious awards, including the Walt Grealis Special Achievement Award at the 1998 Junos for his extraordinary contributions to the Canadian music industry. Feldman has been inducted into the B.C. Entertainment Hall of Fame (2000) and the Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame (2001). In 2010, he won the annual Honour Roll Award from the Music Managers Forum Canada.
