We're ready for a new season!

Journey with us in 2024.

Dear Dana,

RCCI is committed to equipping Christian leaders to build shalom across racial lines. This year we've been laying foundations to disciple Christians in ways that are more effective and impactful. These postures and practices are positioning us well to grow and nurture the Lord's transformative work in the new year! For example, in 2023 we...

  • laid a foundation for experiential learning opportunities in 2024 that will help Christians of all races see how the past shapes the present and respond to the legacy of racism as followers of Jesus.
  • piloted a revised cohort curriculum with 8 white evangelicals seeking to explore racism from a biblical perspective. The curriculum updates focus on going beyond intellectual engagement and opening participants to holistic transformation.
  • begun to develop pathways for white folks to learn how to follow BIPOC leadership through collective action and on-the-ground discipleship. This included a multi-phase research project where we learned from community leaders of various races.
  • hired an Administrator in the person of Katelyn Hannan, who has increased our capacity to create resources and spread the word about anti-racist learning and action opportunities throughout Greater Boston.

As we lay a foundation and begin to move into a new season, we thank God for the testimonies that have already emerged.

"Because of my monthly coaching sessions with Megan, I see the impacts of racism everywhere. In order to nurture the unity that God wants, I now understand that we must not only strive for diversity, but also dismantle sinful systemic power structures that are hindering this unity...This understanding has changed everything: who we hire, the programs we run, how we allocate money, and more."

  • Rev. Kelly Fassett is the Executive Director of UniteBoston and has been stewarding UniteBoston’s bridge-building work since 2012. She has been meeting monthly with RCCI's Founding Director, Megan Lietz, for the last year, and she and her husband are currently participants in our cohort.

What's Next: Join us in 2024!

In 2024, we are excited to...

  • Invite people of all races to join one of our experiential learning opportunities. Whether you explore the history of slavery in Boston or journey with us on a Southern Civil Right's Tour, we invite you to engage in the truth-telling and guided discipleship that can helps us respond to the history of racism.
  • Support the shalom-building work of BIPOC folks through a collective action group designed to increase white folks' capacity to take anti-racist action and follow BIPOC leadership. As we learn how to nurture transformation by mobilizing white folks, we will also be laying a foundation for and discerning around supporting the launch of a multiracial collective action community, as BIPOC energy and leadership emerges.
  • Connect with your congregation through Sunday morning ministry. RCCI's Founding Director, Megan Lietz (M.Div., STM) is available to preach, lead a Sunday school lesson, or Bible study that meets your congregation where they're at and invites them to explore a biblical perspective on racial justice. Invest in Truth-telling and Transformation

RCCI is one of the few ministries that focuses on discipling white Christians from a biblical perspective and journeying with them to do the self-work needed to engage well across racial lines. We create spaces filled with truth and grace where we can learn how to model the postures, practices, and power dynamics of the Kingdom. In doing so we not only nurture healing, liberation, and shalom in white folks, but in the whole body of Christ.

This focus is paired with a commitment to come alongside leaders of color who are working with white communities and to support BIPOC-led shalom building across racial lines.

We are excited for the new practices, partnerships, and pathways we are pressing into that can help us do so more effectively. We feel we are entering into a new season and thank God for his leadership in our lives!

Please consider making a year-end gift so we can press ahead into exciting work the Lord has for us. We need to raise an additional $1,000 a month in monthly support to sustain our growing ministry. Would you give $25, $50, or $100 a month to invest in racial healing? If you are already a monthly donor, would you help us reach our goal by increasing your monthly contributions by $10/mo.? We can't do this without you. But together, we can nurture racial healing in our communities.

When the body of Christ is healthy and whole, we can all build God’s kingdom more effectively.

With appreciation,

Megan & the RCCI Team

PS: Does a monthly donation not feel like a good fit? Consider making a one time gift toward RCCI’s experiential learning weekend on the history of slavery in Boston. All gifts given toward this opportunity will be matched up to $5,000. Give today!
