Results! 2024 Congressional Physical Activity Challenge


More than 400 members of Congress and their staffs worked up a sweat throughout May for the 4th Annual Congressional Physical Activity Challenge. The Congressional Physical Activity Challenge (sponsored by PAA and MyZone) is an annual competition involving the offices of the US Congress in a bid to achieve the highest level of physical activity.


Our congratulations to this year’s winners:

It's Time to Move - June 2024 Update

The Physical Activity Track recently held its Kick-off call in preparation for the CMS Connectathon next month. The CMS Connectathon is a free, virtual event July 16-18, 2024. Registration closes June 30. If you are planning on attending, particularly as someone who is going to be participating with data, testing, or code please contact us ASAP. HHS Delivers Strategic Framework for National Plan on Aging

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), through its Administration for Community Living (ACL), released “Aging in the United States: A Strategic Framework for a National Plan on Aging.” The report lays the groundwork for a coordinated effort – across the private and public sectors and in partnership with older adults, family caregivers, the aging services network, and other stakeholders – to create a national set of recommendations for advancing healthy aging and age-friendly communities that value and truly include older adults. More

Falls Prevention in Community-Dwelling Older Adults: Interventions

The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force recently released a final recommendation statement on interventions to prevent falls in community-dwelling older adults. The Task Force found that exercise can help prevent falls in adults 65 and older who are at increased risk. Additional interventions might be helpful for some older adults. More

Economic Review Highlights How $1 Spent on Park, Trail, and Greenway Infrastructure Interventions led to $3.10 Worth of Benefits

The Community Preventive Services Task Force (CPSTF) finds the economic benefits exceed the cost for park, trail, and greenway infrastructure interventions. More

New Data from WHO Shows that Nearly 1.8 Billion Adults at Risk of Disease from Not Doing Enough Physical Activity The findings point to a worrying trend of physical inactivity among adults, which has increased by about 5 percentage points between 2010 and 2022. More
