"Cognitive distortions are irrational thoughts that can influence your emotions. Everyone experiences cognitive distortions to some degree, but they can be harmful in their more extreme forms. We've all had faulty thoughts influenced by our experiences and surroundings. When you employ absolute viewpoints, only perceive the worst-case scenario, and create narratives without evidence, you can become anxious and worried and ruminate on a thought you haven't tested for validity. It's beneficial to sit with ourselves, examine our ideas, and get to the bottom of things to impact how we present ourselves. Our thoughts shape our emotions and feelings, which manifest in our behavior. Check your views' realism today, recast the conflicting narratives, and remember to put your thoughts on trial.

Muslim Mindful Moment
Mindfulness in Islam
In the Islamic context, the quality of mindfulness is denoted by the word “muraqabah,” it is derived from the root meaning “to watch, observe, carefully consider." As you can see, the concept of “mindfulness” and “muraqabah” are closely related etymologically and linguistically. As a narrow spiritual term, muraqabah means the constant understanding, the immutable confidence of the believer that Allah is watching over all his actions and thoughts. That is, a Muslim in the state of Muraqabah is constantly and fully aware that Allah knows him inside and out. It is a state of complete and vigilant self-awareness in the heart, soul and body towards Allah.
Muraqabah can also be explained as the desire to observe all that the Allah commands, and to live with the unwavering sincerity of knowing that He is constantly watching over us. Such behavior is possible only when the servant of Allah realizes that He is aware of all that he or she thinks, says and does.
