CBC would like to recognize the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) for sponsoring many of the featured trainings this month, and its partnership with NYS Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare, which is also made possible through SAMHSA funding.

All featured trainings are hosted via McSilver Institute's website and require a username and password to register. If you don't already have a username and password for McSilver's website, you can easily create one!

Self-Care/Wellness for Behavioral Health Professionals During Covid-19

1.5 CEUs are available to social workers, mental health counselors and marriage/family therapists that attend this recorded training.

Attendees not seeking CEU credits can complete an evaluation for a “General ALPHA Certificate of Attendance.”

While everyone’s mental health has been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, those working in behavioral health have been tasked with continuing to care for others while experiencing their own private pandemic strife. This workshop will provide an overview of trauma's impact on the brain and the dynamics of burnout, secondary stress and compassion fatigue, before identifying evidence-based self-care strategies and techniques to take home.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Training
Wednesday, April 13 (1:30-3pm)

This webinar will provide an overview of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)—an evidence-based approach developed by Dr. Marsha Linehan. While attendees will not be sufficiently trained to provide DBT after this training, they will leave with a clear sense of what DBT is, its uses and how it can benefit service recipients. The training will look at DBT from both the provider perspective, as presented by psychiatrist Dr. Bianca Nguyen, and also from perspective of a service recipient’, as presented by CBC Training Institute Director Emily Grossman.

Self-Care

Tuesday, April 19 (10:30am-12pm)

In this interactive training, participants will learn to appreciate self-care's importance in the caring professions. Attendees will be introduced to practical self-care techniques including breathing/ meditation, tapping and visualizations, as well as methods to overcome perfectionism. This training is recommended for all staff seeking some springtime rejuvenation.

Motivational Interviewing
Wednesday, April 27 (12:30-2pm) 

Motivational interviewing explores ways to assist people through the "stages of change"meeting them where they are without judgment to help them move towards making lasting change in their lives. Throughout this training, attendees will learn the importance of putting the client in the driver’s seat to guide their own recoveryand how this leads to greater engagement levels, an improved service provider/recipient experience and most importantly, improved recovery outcomes.

Building Reconnection via Person-Centered Outreach & Re-engagement 
Friday, April 29 (10-11am) 

This training will provide care management staff an opportunity revisit CBC Health Home’s current processes for outreach and re-engagement. Attendees will learn person-centered approaches to re-establish connection with members lost to care or disengaged during the pandemic. Outreach/Intake Specialists and Care Managers are encouraged to attend.
