Ruminations from Dunlap
When we think of sustainabiliy, many of us think of recycling, smaller more fuel efficient vehicles, energy saving light bulbs and windmills.  What about "adaptive reuse" of buildings and facilities?  That can be just as green as solar energy and rainwater harvesting.  By utlizing what we already have, we save on demolition, construction costs, materals, energy and many other factors including re-using and re-purposing some of our most historical and beautiful buildings.

Richmond is paving the way "recycling" our wonderful old architecture.  From 200 year old tobacco warehouses into apartments to an old train station turned into a science museum, adaptive re-use is the "rave" in Richmond.

The lesson for all of us is to think "What if ...?", in everything - and imagine the possibilities.
