Ronald W. Anteau
Remembering a Family Law Legend
Ron passed peacefully Wednesday morning, December 28, 2022
Our deepest condolences go out to his family, and his countless friends and colleagues of the family law community
Ron was a well-respected and knowledgeable mentor and teacher amongst the family law community, and beloved FMBK team member since he joined FMBK in 2013.

Ron was a family law legend, a Certified Family Law Specialist with over 50 years of experience and a Top 10 Southern California Super Lawyer. He represented clients that ranged from the everyday Angeleno to major celebrities such as Robert De Niro, Priscilla Presley, Jennifer Lopez, and the list goes on. Notwithstanding his impressive career, Ron was a humble and friendly spirit around the FMBK office always walking around with a smile, sharing family law wisdom and life stories.

Ron was dedicated to the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) where he served as the President of the Southern California Chapter and was named the Family Law Person of the Year by the Southern California Chapter in 2003. He also was a member of the International Academy of Family Lawyers (IAFL) where he held many executive positions including Treasurer.

In recent years, Ron focused his attention as a member of the America College of Family Trial Lawyers (ACFTL) where he served on the Executive Committee and ultimately as its President. Ron was a member of the ACFTL since its inception.
Here are a few words from Ron’s colleagues:

"He was a fearless advocate but a true professional who refrained from personalizing the controversy of the parties. I had the pleasure of having cases against Ron and also having him appear before me in the trial court and in the master calendar court. Ron would directly answer the court's questions, even if the correct answer was difficult for his client's case because he valued the importance of being an officer of the court where civility is a hallmark of democracy. I intend to let the light of his example of professionalism continue guiding me in my endeavors. Let us all cultivate the good memories of our friend and colleague as an inspiration for how we will conduct ourselves tomorrow."
-Hon. Thomas Trent Lewis (Ret.) - Signature Resolution

“From the first day that Ron walked into FMBK, he excelled in his role as Senior Counsel. During our firm meetings and Annual Retreats, Ron contributed to the discussions adding an entirely new dimension of expertise. Ron’s open door mentorship policy and friendly smile will be missed by the Team at FMBK.”
-Steven A. Mindel – Feinberg, Mindel, Brandt & Klein, LLP

“I not only had the pleasure of having Ron as an opposing counsel on several major cases, including Brandes, but Ron was also a mentor of mine who actively encouraged me to join the AAML. He will be greatly missed, and we are all surely diminished by his loss.”
-Bruce E. Cooperman – Wasser, Cooperman and Mandles, P.C.

“Ron Anteau holds a big place in my heart, and of course, in my professional career.
For many years, Ron and Leanne lived down the street from us and were always kind to our large family. We enjoyed competing in tennis, we went to UCLA basketball games together, theater together, dined together and traveled together at times. Decades ago, I opposed Ron in a high-profile celebrity matter. He was a consummate professional. I joined Ron at Simke Chodos Silberfeld & Anteau for a couple years before the K&A adventure took off. A kind mentor, an excellent lawyer, a gracious colleague, and a very special person.”
-William J. Glucksman – Glucksman Law Group, P.C.
“Ron was an inspiration to me. It was nearly 40 years ago, when he recommended that I become a Certified Family Law Specialist, which changed the path of my family law career for the better. It was a joy to have Ron as a member of the FMBK Team.”

Robert C. Brandt – Feinberg, Mindel, Brandt & Klein, LLP
