This week's theme is REINVEST.

REINVEST with the YMCA: The Men's Residence
Our branch in York City has amazing facilities and is a great place to work out, but did you know that, right above the gym and exercise studios, is our Men's Residence, which over 100 men, who otherwise would be homeless, call their home?
Men experiencing homelessness find their way to the Men's Residence through our partners in the community and often stay in one of our emergency shelter rooms while they get on their feet. Our staff work alongside every tenant to help them become self-sufficient and find a place of their own.

Aquatics Workout
by Denise Johnson,
York Branch Aquatics & Membership Director
If you’re looking for a break from your usual fitness routine, why not dive into aquatic exercise?
Exercising in water can provide a great full-body workout without some of the drawbacks of land-based exercises.
Water fitness provides extra support for your muscles and joints allowing you to work out harder while putting less impact.
Below are Aquatics Exercises demonstrated by Denise.
Walking in water is a good exercise to start off with as it helps you get a feeling for how you can create resistance. Walking in water can target your arms, core, and lower body. You can increase the intensity by using hand or ankle weights and water dumb bells.
Start off walking in shallow water. Lengthen your spine and walk by putting pressure on your heel first and then your toes, instead of walking on your tiptoes. Engage your core and stand tall as you walk.
Leg Shoots with a Pool Noodle
This dynamic exercise works your core, low back, and legs.
Keep your feet off the bottom of the pool during this exercise. Tuck your knees into your chest. Explosively press your feet and legs out in front and float flat on your back. Draw your knees back into your chest.
This exercise is great for the upper body and best done with foam dumbbells.
Stand in water up to your shoulders. Hold the dumbbells at your side.
Raise your arms to the side, until they're level with the water and your shoulders. Lower your arms back down to your sides.
Use foam dumbbells or a water board for resistance.
Press the resistance tool away from your chest, keeping your hands even with your shoulders.
Stand in one place or try walking to add cardio to this exercise.
Jumping jacks work the muscles in both your upper and lower body. You can add resistance with wrist and ankle weights.
Stand in water at chest level. Start with your feet together and your arms at your side.
Jump by moving your legs outward and, at the same time, bringing your arms over your head. Jump again to return to the starting position with your feet together and your arms at your side.

Pay It Forward, With Love
By Erika Helwig, Wellness Coordinator, Bob Hoffman Dover and York Branches
Matthew 25:35-40 NAB
“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.’ Then the righteous[a] will answer him and say, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? When did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? When did we see you ill or in prison, and visit you?’ And the king will say to them in reply, ‘Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.’
When I was a little girl, it was just me, my mom, and my sister. We were very poor, and there were times when we went to bed hungry. We snuggled up together, fully clothed in winter hats and coats and boots in my mom’s bed in the dead of winter because we had no electricity or fuel to keep us warm. I watched the condensation clouds escape from our mouths as we fell asleep. I also remember my mom crying and pleading to God for something…anything…her children were cold and hungry, and she had no one to help her; she was alone.

Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for? (Audience) Why should they care? (Benefit) What do I want them to do here? (Call-to-Action)
Create a great offer by adding words like "free" "personalized" "complimentary" or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining!"
