Registration continues for IMRF's "Pension Spiking and the Accelerated Payment" webinar

Registration continues at a steady pace for IMRF's webinar, "Pension Spiking and the Accelerated Payment," taking place Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at 1:30 PM.
Presented by Louis W. Kosiba, Executive Director, and Mark Nannini, Chief Financial Officer, this program will:
- Define pension spiking;
- Explain why pension spiking hurts taxpayers, and impacts employers and IMRF; and
- Detail the tools IMRF uses to combat Pension Spiking, including the Accelerated Payment.
A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation

Employers invited to attend
ILPEx Conference and Awards Ceremony
|
IMRF employers are invited to attend the ILPEx Conference and Awards Ceremony, taking place Wednesday, March 23, in Oak Brook. The Conference takes place from 11 AM to 5 PM; the Awards Ceremony will be held from 5 PM to 9 PM.
ILPEx's mission is to advance Illinois organizations' capability and knowledge of performance excellence by delivering consultation, instruction, and assessments within the framework of the Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence.
At the Conference, attendees will hear from past recipients of ILPEx Awards for Excellence about be
st practices in the areas of leadership, strategy, and customer service. Featured presenters include recipients from the 2014 ILPEx Award cycle: IMRF (Oak Brook); Advocate Lutheran General Hospital (Park Ridge); American College of Healthcare Executives (Chicago); and Community Consolidated School District 93 (Carol Stream, Bloomingdale, and Hanover Park).
At the Ceremony, the keynote speaker will be Larry Potterfield, founder and CEO of MidwayUSA, a 2009 and 2015 recipient of the Baldrige National Quality Award. Additionally, the following ILPEx Award recipients will be recognized: American College of Healthcare Executives (Chicago); SHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital (Effingham); National Express (Warrenville); and Saint Anthony Hospital (Chicago).
IMRF is a multiple winner of the ILPEx Silver Award for "
Progress Toward Excellence".

February 2016 Board Meeting Highlights |
At the February 26, 2016, Board Meeting, the Board:
- Reviewed 2014-2016 Strategic Plan progress
- Approved death and disability benefit rates for 2017
- Heard staff projections of the 2016 "13th Payment"
- Heard an update on endorsed insurance benefit plans
- Established 2016 Board Committees
The next regularly scheduled Board meeting will be held May 20, 2016, at IMRF's Oak Brook headquarters.

The 2016 Authorized Agent Workshop schedule is available online for review and registration. These workshops offer employers comprehensive one-da
y training in IMRF processes and issues.
The workshops - the first held Wednesday, March 23, in Peoria - are designed for Authorized Agents and other employer representatives. Staff members who assist employers with day-to-day IMRF processes (including enrollment, payroll reporting, benefit applications, and Member inquiries) are encouraged to attend to stay informed of
current issues.
