The 2nd annual Great Lakes YEN summer tour is now open for registration! Starting in St. Jacobs, Ontario, this tour covers farms and research plots across Perth, Bruce, Wellington, Middlesex, and Waterloo counties. Tour attendees will have the opportunity to hear from researchers about their projects and results, visit YEN participants’ farms to walk their fields and talk through some of the management decisions they are making, and meet other engaged growers and agronomists involved in the program.

This tour is free for 2024 Great Lakes YEN participants. We kindly ask that you note any dietary restrictions in the registration survey as meals will be provided.

Tour agenda:

Join your fellow Great Lakes YEN growers from across Canada and the U.S. to tour, share ideas, and network while learning more about wheat production. 

Day 1: June 17th

• 10:00 a.m. - Refreshments and Registration opens in St. Jacobs, Ontario 
• 11:00 a.m. - Elora Research Station Tour 
• 12:50 p.m. - Lunch & Tour at C&M Seeds
• 3:00 p.m. - Tour Adam Ireland’s Farm (Teeswater, Ontario) 
• 4:20 p.m. - Tour Fred Waechter’s Farm (Chepstow, Ontario) 
• 7:00 p.m. - Dinner and time for discussion on the day TBD

Day 2: June 18th

• 7:00 a.m. - Breakfast in St. Jacobs
• 9:00 a.m. - Tour Andy Timmerman’s Farm (Stratford, Ontario) 
• 10:30 a.m. - Tour Josh Boersen’s Farm (Sebringville, Ontario) 
• 12:15 p.m. - Lunch and Tour at Doug Schneider’s Farm (St. Mary’s, Ontario) 
• 2:45 p.m. - Tour Jeff Cook’s Farm 
• 3:45 p.m. - Wrap up
• 4:00 p.m. - Travel home safely

Need hotel accommodations?

A hotel block has been reserved for Monday, June 17th at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites – St. Jacobs, located at 14 Benjamin Rd, Waterloo, ON. We recommend reserving your hotel room no later than Friday, May 24th to ensure you receive our tour discount.
