The optimal way of preventing chronic pain is to treat acute pain appropriately, using evidence-based medical, interventional, rehabilitation, and psychological modalities. The symposium will highlight innovations in the field of pain management that may help to better engage patients and treat the complex peripheral and central nervous systems changes underlying an individual’s unique presentation of pain. Here are 5 great reasons to attend:
- Discuss updates in both pain management and sports medicine therapies for the first time at this symposium.
- Learn from world-renowned, expert speakers whose specialties span pain medicine, physiatry, and sports medicine (see faculty section below).
- Gain insights to more comfortably evaluate and manage the common and sometimes challenging acute and chronic pain conditions of your patients.
- See first-hand the practical benefits of mindfulness and Tai Chi/movement therapies in the management of pain through afternoon demonstrations.
- Attend the way that works best for you - with a hybrid format this year we are offering both in-person and virtual attendance to meet the scheduling needs of busy caregivers. A recording of most lectures will also be provided to registrants for 30 days post event to review content.
The physical examination and specific treatment modalities for a range of pain problems will be discussed. These include acute low back pain in the younger patient; concussion; and neck and shoulder, knee, foot, hip, and sacroiliac joint pain. Advancements in self-management apps and virtual reality pain modalities will also be presented, as well as an update on the ongoing illicit fentanyl crisis and the growing drug overdose epidemic here in the Pacific Northwest and the U.S.
We hope you’ll join, either in-person or virtually, to gain practical knowledge and further your ability to care for patients presenting with both acute musculoskeletal and persistent pain.
