Money, Money, Money, (no, really) MONEY!

In the most recent COVID-19 stimulus bill, signed into law by President Biden on March 11, $125 billion dollars were allocated for K-12 schools. This is 8 times as much as is allocated annually for Title I. School districts will need to figure out how to spend this enormous amount quickly, and to spend it on the best ways to support students as schools physically reopen. Music is part of the answer, and supporting music programs so more students can participate is one of the ways these funds can be spent. Learn more about the funds, how to ask for them, whom to ask for them, and what they can support in this webinar with Bob Morrison and Lynn Tuttle.

The state of Iowa will be receiving nearly $775 million dollars in federal relief for Pre K-12 schools to address costs incurred due to the COVID-19 pandemic. These funds are part of the latest relief package provided by the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) plan. Leon Kuehner, Executive Director, IAAE and Jane Triplet will discuss how to evaluate your needs and apply for ESSER funds to provide resources and equipment for your local fine arts program.

THE ARTS & SOCIAL
EMOTIONAL LEARNING

June 17, 2021 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Hosted on Zoom

This year’s summit theme was selected in recognition of the new Iowa Social-Emotional Learning Competencies. Join Iowa arts educators, artists, teaching artists and others as they gather virtually on June 17, 2021, for the Iowa Fine Arts Education Summit. This year’s summit will explore how all fine arts educators can deepen social and emotional learning connections within arts education.

As defined by the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning, social emotional learning "is the process through which children and adults acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.”

This year’s summit theme was selected in recognition of the new
Iowa Social-Emotional Learning Competencies. In addition to learning more about the social emotional learning competencies, attendees will get practical tips on how to develop students' self-management, social awareness, self-awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making -- all to increase their chances for success in the fine arts classroom and beyond.
