Summer Quarterly News Update

Greetings Region IV ACTE members!

As I write my first quarterly newsletter as your Region IV Vice-President, I hope you all are just as excited about the new school year as I am. One of the greatest things about a career in education, is you have the chance to start over each year. In early July, I participated in my first ACTE Board of Directors board meeting in Alexandria, Virginia. As an ACTE member, you should feel confident that our association is in great hands with an amazing ACTE staff and awesome board of directors. We learned how fiscally sound our association is, conducted the necessary business of the association and listened to updates from our career and technical education (CTE) liaisons and report out summaries from ACTE staff. The future of CTE is bright!

Also, in July, I traveled to Biloxi, Mississippi, to visit and speak at the MSACTE Summer Conference. It was an honor to speak to 1,400 CTE educators participating in professional development and celebrating their CTE award winners. More recently, OkACTE just wrapped up our 56 Annual Summit, where 4,000 CTE educators gathered in Tulsa to celebrate our CTE Award winners, listen to keynote speaker Kevin Brown and participate in divisional professional development. I appreciated the invite from MSACTE, and I hope to have the opportunity to visit the remaining four state’s conferences in the future.

Again, I hope you have a wonderful school year and I hope to see you all at ACTE's CareerTech VISION in Phoenix, Arizona, Nov. 29–Dec. 2. Also, mark your calendar for ACTE's Region IV Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico, April 17–19, 2024.
