Regina Families,
Welcome to summer!
The halls at Regina are quiet already which ensures households are not! As we transition into new schedules, I encourage us all to think intentionally about our summer routines. Regals have thrived over the last academic year due to the daily routine of putting on that same dress code, the same school start time, the same classroom expectations from their teachers, and prayer services or masses on Wednesday afternoons. While for some, routines may feel boring, the research is clear: routines for kids increase feelings of safety, the development of social skills, resiliency and decrease impulsiveness. Routine also ensures we can prioritize what is important.
Don’t get me wrong, like any of us, I enjoy spontaneous ideas and celebrations. I also know that routines ensure when something takes perseverance or effort, what is important remains important. Before coming to Regina, I spent many years coaching soccer including long weekend tournaments. Finding an hour for mass was part of the routine. That time also included never missing training for marathons. As children look to stay up and sleep in and avoid chores at all costs, we know they can do it. And we know why it’s good for them. Have a wonderful summer, including the change of time on vacations!
We look forward to seeing everyone in August!
In Christ,

National Honor Society
Current sophomore and junior students that have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.5 were sent an email with the membership application attached. The applications are not due until September 4th, 2024; however having the application over the summer will allow the students to work on their brief essays and complete required community service hours. Students were made aware that this is not a formal invitation to apply for membership, as students’ official grade point averages will be used to determine eligibility. We anticipate the official grade point averages being ready in mid-June.
The GPA requirement for NHS invitation necessitates three semesters’ worth of data. Additionally, students must make sure they have met the community scholarship, service, and character requirements.
Criteria for Application include (but are not limited to):
- Must be at least a junior at time of application
- Cumulative GPA of at least 3.5
- Must be a member of at least one Regina club/activity
- Must have completed at least 10 hours of documentable community service during high school (service time during the school day does not count)
- Must not have had an in-school suspension, repeated detentions, or any instances of academic dishonesty within the last semester
- Must be considered a person of good character by staff and students (not disrupting class/Mass, giving full effort in all classes, etc.)
- Submit three short essays on provided topics regarding NHS pillars (Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character)
Questions? Please contact NHS advisors Beth Hill at beth.hill@regina.org or Lisa Moore at lisa.moore@regina.org.
