Let's go fishing! 🎣

Looking for a fun summer activity to get the kids out of the house? Grab your rods and reels and head over to one of our CabCo parks to celebrate National Go Fishing Day (June 18).

Fishing is offered at Frank Liske, Rob Wallace and Camp T.N. Spencer parks.

From the best bait to use to the types of fish you could reel in, Cabarrus County Senior Park Ranger Matthew Carlson shares what you need to know about fishing at our parks.

Check out his expert tips in the video below.

 Fishing fees:

  • $3 per day for anyone 13 & up
  • $50 for a yearly fishing pass for all parks (Frank Liske Park, Rob Wallace Park and Camp T.N. Spencer Park)
  • $25 for a yearly fishing pass for active or retired Military
  • 12 & under fish for free

Guidelines:

  • All North Carolina Wildlife regulations apply
  • 16 and older need a valid NC fishing license
  • Anyone under 16 needs to be accompanied by an adult with a valid NC fishing license
  • Follow Park Fishing rules located on the back of park fishing permit
  • Fishing is allowed from park opening until sunset or park close each day (whichever comes first)
  • Fishing is allowed at all County parks except for Vietnam Veterans Park

Types of fish in the ponds:

  • Bass
  • Crappy
  • Brim
  • Catfish
  • Hybrid Striper

Looking to try fishing for the first time? Still fine-tuning your angling skills? Forgot your gear at home? Cabarrus County is a part of the The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission's Tackle Loaner Program. You can borrow rods, reels and other fishing gear free of charge. In Cabarrus, you must return the rods and reels after you're done fishing, but you can keep the tackle box.

Our park rangers will also teach you the basics if you're a beginner or need some assistance showing your kids how to fish. Don't hesitate to ask for help!

Happy fishing!

The facility has applied to the N.C. Division of Air Quality (DAQ) to modify its permit to increase emissions. The facility is proposing to increase its use of isopropyl alcohol, a cleaning agent, at the site. This would result in a 40-tons-per-year increase in emissions of volatile organic compounds.
