Tomorrow is election day! Voting Yes on A will fund the most urgent upgrades and repairs identified across all five Tam District school sites, including Redwood, bringing our aging campuses up to the same standard as other local high school schools and ensuring that our teachers can continue to provide instruction that meets today's standards for educational excellence to current and future generations.
The last significant upgrades to our high schools occurred almost twenty years ago and Redwood, like Tam and Tamiscal, has buildings that need to be replaced, not remodeled, due to state law. Dilapidated portables, leaking roofs, and outdated classroom technology hamper learning and pose health and safety threats for students and teachers. Without Measure A, these needs won't go away and will instead require diverting resources from academic programs and teacher compensation.
Passing Measure A now ensures that construction can start this summer, minimizing disruption, saving taxpayers at least $25M, and finishing the project as soon as possible, maximizing the number of students who are able to access the facilities in preparation for college and 21st-century careers.
The Marin IJ and many other local leaders including the Tamalpais Federation of Teachers ALL agree Measure A is good for our local students and good for our communities. Get the student perspective in the recent Bark article!
Measure A requires 55% support to win so EVERY vote counts! Mail in your ballot TODAY or drop it at your nearest polling station!
