Greetings!
We have in our prayers the family and friends of Ginny Cassell who passed away peacefully on Monday, May 27, after a period of declining health. A funeral service will be held at Redeemer on Sunday, June 23, at 2 pm. A reception will be held in Fellowship Hall following the service. Ginny was such an integral part of our faith community. Please come as you are able to the service and reception.
We are also keeping in our prayers Bob Hahne. He is currently in the hospital. Arrangements are being made to move him back home under hospice care. Bob and his wife, Barbara, were instrumental in starting “Stop Hunger Now” which is now “Rise Against Hunger.” We pray for comfort and peace.
We also celebrate new life. Pastor Josh and Heather Wullenweber welcomed their son, Owen Thomas, on Friday, May 24. Everyone is doing well. If you would like to send them a card, please direct it to New Jerusalem Lutheran Church, 12942 Lutheran Church Road, Lovettsville, VA 20180.
Sunday, June 2 – 2nd Sunday After Pentecost
We are now in “Ordinary” time and will be hearing lessons that will help us deepen our faith. Please come and be with us. We worship at 8:30 am, 9:45 am, and 11 am. We livestream the first two services and then post them on our Video Channel later in the day.
This week we need a lot of volunteers to help with the worship services – We need readers for the 8:30 am and 9:45 am services, acolytes for the 8:30 am and 11:00 am services, and an Assisting Minister for the 8:30 am service. Please sign up! Thank you!
It is the first Sunday of the month so we will offer a Coffee Hour with donuts! Anyone may grab a coffee and donut after the 8:30 am and 9:45 am services and before the 11 am service. We look forward to enjoying some time with you.

Ice Cream Social – June 4
The Endowment Ministry Team is hosting an Ice Cream Social on Tuesday, June 4, from 5 to 7 pm. See the attached flyer and distribute it to people in your neighborhood. All are welcome! All proceeds will go towards the Capital Campaign. Stop by the church on Tuesday and enjoy a summer treat.
Good Grub and God – June 11
Food, fellowship, and conversation! That is what is on tap at the Union Restaurant in McLean on Tuesday, June 11, at 7 pm. Please let Kim Wenk know if you are able to come so she can reserve enough seats and tables. Kim can be reached at kbwenk@gmail.com.
Summer Bible Study – June 12 through July 24
Our Wednesday Evening Bible Study will start up again on June 12. We will compare the healing stories that are found in Matthew, Mark, and Luke. We will explore their similarities and differences, their unique placement in each gospel, and what we can learn from these events.
