Meet R. Bobbie Herrell
(BBO: Bobbie561)
Editor's note: We asked Bobbie, the top new player, to tell us a little about herself.
"I started playing bridge (haphazardly) 20 years ago and then started over with the new conventions. I just started playing duplicate in 2019.
"I like the virtual game for the ease of access. And during Covid it was so nice to connect with people, although silently. I like being able to see my partner’s hand when I’m the dummy.
"I was a classical ballet teacher and owner/director of a ballet school. I’m delighted we have Ballet Sun Valley in my new community here in Sun Valley.
"Now my husband, John, and I live in Sun Valley and La Quinta, CA. but we spent 50 years in Minnesota. I was an Army brat growing up, so our family lived in many places, including Japan and Puerto Rico. I spent the majority of our time in Virginia.
When I’m not playing bridge, I hike and read."

In Memoriam:
Betty Hedreen
Elizabeth (Betty) Hedreen passed away last month after a long illness. The obituary in the Seattle Times describes her perfectly: "gracious, generous, courageous and compassionate, devoted to family and friends, and strong supporter of the Seattle arts community." It was always a pleasure to have Betty at Sun Valley Bridge.

Caution on Virtual Games
Please be sure that you and your partner are both online when the game starts. If you sign on too early, BBO may automatically log you out.
Recently, BBO has gone ahead and started the games without some players. There is very little the director can do to help in this situation. Check about 5 minutes before the game to be sure you and your partner are both online.
