READINGS FOR THE FIFTH SUNDAY OF EASTER

PRACTICE OF FAITH

The Holy Spirit brought peace to the early Church. Which parts of the world are especially in need of God's peace today?

  • Pray the Rosary for those trapped in regions of conflict and for those working to resolve those conflicts peacefully.
  • When Jesus speaks of himself as the true vine, we are reminded of his presence in the Eucharist. The Catholic Church's theology in the Eucharist is rich and vast. Find the Catechism of the Catholic Church online and see what it offers in its discussion of the Eucharist.
  • Write cards of welcome and support to those in your faith community who became Catholic at the Easter Vigil. Invite friends in your community to sign your cards or to write their own.

We are doing our best to continue to provide a safe space to worship for everyone. Click here to see current COVID safety measures.

Live Stream Mass is during the Sunday 9:00am Mass.

STYROFOAM RECYCLING FOR EARTH DAY

This Sunday, April 28 from 10:00am - 2:00pm

Bring your Styrofoam for recycling to St John Vianney this weekend. All material must be clean, dry, and free from any tape or labels. Look for the #6 or EPS inside the recycle symbol. Please contact Susan for more information.

ARCHBISHOP ETIENNE'S MESSAGE

Archbishop Etienne wrote “There is great work happening in all corners of our local Church because together we are the living body of Christ. My hope is that every person in our archdiocese feels welcomed, knows they can make a difference, and shares the joy of their Catholic faith.” His message speaks to the importance of the Annual Catholic Appeal, and the difference that your contribution can make in our local Catholic community. Last weekend our Youth Leaders - Nathaniel, Jose, Olivia, Aubrey, and Elizabeth - spoke at Mass about the impact of the Annual Catholic Appeal to build the Catholic faith within us, and directly support our parish. Please take time to read the campaign materials and prayerfully consider how you and your family will participate. Use the button below to give today. Let us encourage each other to help make our ministries a success!

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

PRESCHOOL GARDEN

25% of Rice Bowl donations stay in Western Washington to assist the poor in our neighborhood. SJV preschool was awarded a $1000 grant to continue gardening in the former Master Gardeners' area on our north property. The preschoolers along with the teachers have been busy working in our beautiful Preschool Garden to grow produce to donate to local food banks. The soil has been mixed with good compost, they planted strawberries, pole beans, onions, broccoli, carrots, radishes, as well as tomato plants. As soon as it warms up, they will add zucchini and cucumber plants. Potatoes are growing inside a trash bin, and they are waiting for their sunflower seeds to break through the soil. Please come and visit the garden. Thank you for your incredible generosity to the Lenten Rice Bowl program. We are excited to see the impact this garden will have in alleviating hunger.

REST IN PEACE

The Funeral Mass for Rick Matson will be on Friday, May 3 at 11:00am. If you are able to bring a salad or dessert for the reception, please contact the parish office.
