Fremont Township Recycle-O-Rama  and Shredding Event 2022

Mark Your Calendars for Saturday, September 24 from 9 am til noon. The shred truck will be here til noon unless it fills up sooner.

We have been preparing for our annual Recycle-O-Rama and Shredding Event on Saturday, September 24. We have added a few items to what we are accepting this year.

We will now accept smoke detectors,CO detectors, automotive batteries, pill botlles and sports equipment in addition to all the items below.

You may bring the equivalent of 3 boxes to shred. Staples and paper clips are fine. The most efficient way is to place your items in a paper grocery bag. No plastic bags! To keep the line moving, you will not be able to exit your car and watch the shredding.

This shredding event is for documents only. Please recycle your coupons, magazines and junk mail with your weekly recycling. They will not be accepted.

You will enter off of Erhart and drive to the shredding truck. Pop your trunk and we will take the items. Do not leave your car.

They will not accept any binders or hanging file folders or electronic items because they catch on fire in the truck.

We look forward to seeing you and appreciate your patience.

Ride Lake County  Pace Bus Service

Ride Lake County is a borderless countywide paratransit service that provides seniors age 60+ and people with disabilities transportation to any area of Lake County for work, shopping, medical appointments and more.

As a reservation-based program, vehicles do not travel on a fixed route each day. Riders schedule their trips in advance and the vehicles provide curb-to-curb service from the rider's desired pick-up and drop-off destinations. Ride Lake County is a shared-ride service, so vehicles may make stops for other passengers.

Save the Pipes! Don't Flush the Wipes

Did you know products that are labeled "flushable" can lead to clogs, costly repairs to the sewer infrastructure and can negatively impact the sewer systems around your home and neighborhood?

Just because a product is marked 'flushable' does not mean that it can be flushed because they do not degrade like toilet paper and can end up clogging pipes. Only toilet paper and human waste should be flushed. All other products should be properly disposed.

The annual Hike Lake County program is underway. The initiative provides a way to get a dose of wellness while walking in a beautiful preserve.

Complete seven of 12 designated walks before November 30 and you'll earn a free commemorative shield for your walking stick or a zipper pull. Each year features different trails and a colorful new shield or zipper pull. Bicycling or horseback riding do not count toward the program. Dogs on leash are welcome to join where permitted. At each selected preserve, look for Hike Lake County logo signs at the preserve entrance and trailhead to get you on the right route.

Suicide Prevention Month

September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. With suicide being the 12th leading cause of death in the United States, it is important to end the stigma surrounding this topic. Having suicidal thoughts can affect anyone regardless of age, gender, or background. Visit the National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI) for more information and resources.

If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis, call or text 988, or visit our Crisis Care Program page for more resources.

In July, the number 988 was introduced as the new three-digit dialing code that will route callers to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. The previous Lifeline number (800-273-8255) will continue to be available along with 988.
