Saving family treasures
How do you rescue waterlogged photos, documents, paintings, VHS tapes, CDs, and books? Learn how in this workshop held by the VT Department of Libraries and the Smithsonian in Ludlow. Hint: Stand books on edge, pages fanned out, or put them in the freezer to stabilize them and buy time. Putting wax paper or paper towel between pages helps, too. Courtesy Okemo Valley TV.

Flood recovery updates
Join Governor Scott for his July 27 press conference for details on the ongoing response to Vermont's historic catastrophic flooding in which he addresses how an initial $20 million will be disbursed to support residents and businesses recovering from damage and trying to get back to work.
He salutes and congratulates Vermont's first female Brigadier General Tracy Poirier.

Uncovering hidden history
In the 1993 restoration, the six wings of the Maxfield Parrish stage set in Plainfield, NH had archival coroplast backing boards attached to the backs. Due to the lack of environmental controls and being unused during the COVID-19 pandemic, however, the boards warped and mold developed, a threat to the historic art. Restoration to save the wings now underway at Plainfield, NH's Town Hall has revealed hidden local history.
