RECORD WARM/DRY WINTER USHERS EARLY SPRING
This winter set the record for the  Warmest Winter On Record In Portland Oregon  while it was the  Coldest Winter On Record In Portland Maine . Another crazy statistic is that there is greater snow pack in Portland, Maine than any ski resort in Oregon.

Whether you are a sun lover or a snow lover, the warm dry winter is beginning to raise serious concern for Oregon's agricultural and Metro area Irrigation this summer. Click here to read more.

As you know, we monitor weather data and chart irrigation need for our weather based irrigation control.  The scary news is that as of today, the lack of rain is indicating that the soil is drying out and the most sensitive areas may need irrigation soon.  We have never needed irrigation in March but this year may be another first.  We are monitoring sites and will be activating irrigation as needed.  We are most concerned about flowers as they tend to dry out first.  Some lawns, especially around trees, are beginning to dry out and in some selected areas we will be watering lawns.  The third area we are monitoring is new plantings as they will also dry out.  Not good news as water is money, but to protect your landscape, we will activate irrigation where needed.

Hopefully this is a short term issue as the forecast has some rain coming toward the middle and end of this week. However, next week  appears dry again. YES, Spring is here!
